Sick of watching doors open, I see enough of this everyday
Why didn’t re1-3 and remake have a skip
>>
>>12116983
would you have preferred a blank screen that said "now loading" with a little spinning CD
>>
>>12116983
Play the PC versions or Deadly Silence.
>>
>>12116983
The PC ports did

*sip* ahhh, the best way to enjoy classic Resident Evil

>>

Huh, looks a lot better honestly, thanks modders!
REmake kind of made the original irrelevant however.
>>
>>12117052

Dude, just emulate the original and apply a crt shader. The game can look good y'know
>>
>>12117052
That looks horrible. It looks like one of those default scenes from a very early version of Corel 3D. How can you look at that statue and say it looks anywhere near fine?
>>
was there ever something behind the doors in the anymation... i dimly remember there were zombies occasionally to jumpscare you, but I could be totally wrong
>>
>>12117251
There is a setup like that in RE2 scenario B where the zombies appear during the door animation
>>
>>12117052
RE1 was always an ugly game even for the time, the prerendered environments looked like shit, the mod really highlights how bland and devoid of detail they were.

RE2 and 3 were huge steps up in quality.
>>
>>12117269
it always makes me laugh when people say REmake killed the atmosphere

the atmosphere was ass
>>
>>12117251
In RE1, if you try to open the main mansion doors twice, a dog will come out and try to enter.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_pYoDiBn2Cc

In RE2, there's a room to the side of the RPD where two zombies will appear during the door opening animation.

>>
>romhacks exist
>"no I must play the original as the devs intended!"
>"I HATE the original as the devs intended!"
>>
I literally just finished REmake minutes ago. Not once during my 9 hours run I thought the doors were as bad as you're making them out to be.
>>
>>12116983
in the clocktower nemesis straight up bypass the loading screen by kicking down a door to pursue you, making both room seamlessly connect. Even he had enough of those doors.
>>
>>12117054
There is a more recent HD background mod done by a guy called SonicBoom that uses SHDP as a base but does some touch ups, it's called RE:Enhance.
>>
>>12117425
Looks pretty good.
>>
>>12116983
Play the PC version.

>>
>>12117507
but what if we made Jill's face completely generic
>>
>>12116992
I heard that the doors weren't even loading screens. The room was loaded way before the door was even shown
>>
>>12116983
The tension buildup while going through the doors is unironically a big part of what made the game scary back in the day
>>
>>12117329
I (mostly) prefer the color palette from the original, but yeah the REmake really nailed mimicking the atmosphere that RE2 & 3 gave us.
>>
>>12117507
Jesus christ that AI slop portrait is a disgrace
>>
>>12116983
just close your eyes
>>
>>12117507
I don't like the AI slop-looking portrait either, but other than that, it looks pretty good. RE3 benefits the most, since the PC already uses the uncompressed native 480p backgrounds, instead of the 240p ones from 1 and 2.

>>
>>12117269
fair but re1 is still gud
>>

Dino Crisis did it right with showing Regina's butta when opening doors.

Just admit you don’t enjoy old games
>>
>>12117052
Looks like it's missing textures, kek
>>
>>12116983
Dude, I have really bad ADHD yet I love the door animations and have never wished to skip them. They're fucking kino, you just have no taste.
>>
>>12116983
You have to be an absolute faggot of the highest order if you want to skip one of the coolest and most iconic little details in horror gaming.
I just wish there were more weird interactions at random, imagine nemesis punching a hole through the door and grabbing your hand as a jumpscare
>>
>>12119654
There is a jumpscare where zombies will enter through the door if you try opening the one that connects to the parking lot in the A scenario of RE2, in the room where you get the Valve Handle. I don’t remember any other interactions like this in the classic games.
>>
>>12117507
UI and ammo honestly look pretty good. Guns look like fridge magnets and Jill looks like an AI girlfriend.

That image he posted is fucking ancient. Here's a comparison of the latest upscale.
>>
>>12119654
>door animation is le good because le old
stop dick riding inane shit just cause it's old or "iconic", door animations were just there cause of hardware limitations and unlike SH fog where it added to the game positively, the door animations adds absolutely nothing to the game other than redditors basedjacking about it cause it's le "iconic"
>>
>>12121231
A few doors had custom handling, like when you first enter the Bandersnatch room in Code Veronica.
>>
>>12121552
slop slop slop
imagine not liking colorbanding and dithering too. what a soulless nigger you are.
>>
>>12121563
Scroll down a bit further, mobile scum.
>>
>>12121565
slop.
>>
>>12121567
Okay, go ahead and remake the main hall in Blender and screenshot new angles and import them into the game
>>
>>12121572
i don't need to do that. i don't care about doing that. i'm happy with the game as it is, a product of the era, because i am not a humungous faggot such as yourself.
>>
>>12121563
>noooo its new!
>its new so its bad!
>everything new is sloppy!
This nigga lives in a house with all 90s furniture and wallpaper rolling on the ground in total fear that the 'slop' will get him
>>

it's not bad because it's new. it's bad because it's bad.

Do uncompressed versions of the backgrounds still exist, or did Capcom throw them into the basement incendiary?

>>
>>12117507
parabellum is such a cool brand name for anything gun related
>>
>>12117052
>upscale

Just stick to new games zoomie.
>>
>>12121767
Quick turn is the only thing that makes tank controls bearable
>>
>>12116983
They do, it's a weird combo, me thinks it's hold l2 then press r2 and O or O and r2 I don't remember how that works on the gc versions though but I think every game has it aside from the original Japanese release.
>>
>>12121943
Why do all this modding bullshit and defend it when you could simply play modern games? They're obviously what you truly want.
>>
>>12121969
I don't get it either. I think it's zoomers in sesrch of SOVL in an increasingly soulless world but they've been too indoctrinated with easy gratification to bear learning and adapting.
>>
>>12121558
It’s the heartbeat door/ladder/steps transitions. If I'm not mistaken these are all of them:
1. The steps that connect the cemetery to corridor that leads to the cell room that Claire begins the game in.
2. The door before the first Bandersnatch
3. The double doors to the Private Residence
4. The door to Alexia’s room
5. The door that connects the infirmary to the torture chamber/crematorium, when you come back after the zombie Doctor has escaped the body bag.
6. The ladder connecting Alfred’s room to the carrousel room.
7. The hatchet door connecting to the cargo area of the plane, where the Tyrant is waiting.
8. The electronic door that leads to the lab where Alexia was in cryogenic sleep.
9. The ladder connecting Alfred’s room in the antarctic base to the chamber where you can find the dragonfly object.
>>
>>12121808
agreed
>>
>>12116983
Its atmosphere building, might as well get rid of the zombies too why you are at it.
>>
>>12121689
they threw them away because 240p crusty versions with color banding artifacts are the way it's meant to be played
>>
>>12122081
Nice memory. That is recollection, right?
>>
Does anyone have the guide pic on how to into RE2 these days? I've heard the sourcenext version with some patches is the way to go but I don't know.
>>
>>12123446
Yes, I don’t even think there’s anyone autistic enough on the internet to have compiled every single instance of that happening, I searched for it and got nothing, so that list is purely from what I remember. Although I missed at least one: when Chris climbs down the ladder underneath the facility diorama (in the room with the pirate and skeleton paintings) that leads to a corridor with spiders, which leads to the room with the pool and the giant albinoid, there's also a heartbeat sound effect.
>>
>>12116992
I see spinning CDs every day. Why don't games have a loading skip?
>>
>>12123668
I salute you, thinking anon. Your mind is a boon to us all.
