I cant get into this game because the sound effect of the time ticking constantly is completely obnoxious and distracts from the nice music, wtf were they thinking? isn't there a rom hack to remove it?

I'm not well versed in Gamecube hacking, but something like disabling a sound effect is usually a one or two byte change. Someone who knows that they're doing could probably make an Action Replay code for that in a few minutes. I know how you'd do it; you use the memory scanner to find the address that contains the timer, set a breakpoint on that to find the code that handles the timer ticking down, then look through a stack trace of that region of code to find the subroutine that plays the tick sound, and then make an AR code to NOP out that subroutine. If this was a SFC or PSX game I'd just do it for you, but I've never used Dolphin's debugger (does it even have one?) and I'm not learning it just for this.

ign agrees
but i cant find any hack about this it's crazy
you'd think nintendo/sega autism would have already done this

You'll get used to it. I know what you're talking about, but I've been playing the game since 2002 and it never bothered me. The monkey sounds are pretty funny and lighthearted, and the countdown give you urgency and tenseness to the stages.

smb autism is a lot like re4 gc autism, it super matters so much that the exact values are there but nobody has ever ported them to other versions even though it's just basic file editing drag drop text editing.
>>
if there's a decent rom unpacker/packer available for gc (I have no idea) you could edit the sound files to silence or much quieter
>>
>>12119359
The GC balancing has been available as part of re4_tweaks on PC for years now. I agree that it really doesn't make much of a difference but at least check the shit you're saying before posting.
>>
i managed to unpack the iso and got a program to read the audio files but i couldnt find the damn audio file used for the countdown
there's a sound folder but it's only the music
the sfx must be in a different format elsewhere
>>
>didn't play with the timer ticking
you unironically didn't beat the game unless you just mute everything/all sound effects (if disabling sfx is an in-game option)
>>
If it bothers you that much then use headphones for a seperate OST.
