their rogue squadron bundle for wii could have saved the company.

I wonder if the global game industry could have crashed by 2010 had the Wii not existed. That console and handhelds kept low budget game development possible, while PS360 and PC were requiring massive investments to utilize the technology to its full potential.

The funniest part about it is that it's the exact same games and gameplay for the past 15 years at least, just better graphics AKA lighting effects and textures. And it's even funnier when you realize they titles they've been copying were mostly indie or low budget releases.

Don't look at me.

more advanced but not necessarily better
technology is only half of good graphics. the other is proper art/graphics design

Yeah and all that goes into rendering very simple Fortnite style cartoony models that could have been done just about as well with CS GO era tech. It's all ridiculous. The only thing of substance is increased resolutions which gives you sharper details farther away, but that's hardware driven primarily.

people always want to treat this as a modern gaming problem when in reality the obsession with using the latest and greatest bleeding edge tech has been with us since the 70s

Show me an objective definition of "twibble ay".

Yeah and it's not only what us as consumers are trained to do but companies don't want to be left behind by not jumping to the next big things or trying to make the jump too late like Atari or Commodore.

its the sound you make when you fall down some stairs but you really wanna order dim sum
>>
People like new things to be more complex, it justifies spending top dollar for it.

Dude there's like no way to sensibly say that "le gaming was better back then!!!". You could maybe say that during the PS3 era, because man that shit was the dark ages, but we're way past that.
If anything there's too many fucking games now.
And I say it as someone who has finished 600+ games. The backlog STILL doesn't end

Nah modern games have gotten worse since PS3 era. It's all graphics with zero development in video game mechanics right now. Physics tech is dead.

Indie slop doesn't count.

>PS3 era
No games
>PS5 era
No games
