Anyone find this designation to be weird? I personally found SMB3 harder than all of the DKC trilogy, and SMB3 is the EASIEST of its own trilogy (SMB1 and Lost Levels), so how did this misconception come to be?

I play the Japanese version of SMB3 just because it's not hard enough. 1 and 2 (yes, I mean USA too) are both harder than 3.

I base that just on sheer amount of hours you have to put in. I wouldnt consider anything particularly difficult if you only have to put a few hours (<100) into it. I hate DK64 because it's slow, easy, and has virtually no platforming. It's a total betrayal to everything the 2D games stood for and triumphantly declared. And don't say the minigames are hard because most of them are terrible.
