The new Croc remaster is 24 gigabytes. The original PSX iso for Croc is 370 megabytes. That's like downloading 64 copies of Croc. And what do you get for it? Upscaled textures and widescreen.
The AI slop textures and chinese spyware are resource intensive, please understand.
If they had access to the original masters and the port included lossless audio I could see a reason for 24GB. I'm sure that's not the case though.

FF7 was 3 disks on PSX and 4 on PC, it would be minimum around 2GB normally without compression.

I have done something similar with FF7, using the debug room to load the game in a story location that is normally on another disk. Whether a PS1 game just copied the data other than FMVs on every disk or not is highly dependent on the game.
