It just makes me wish I was playing a regular Panzer Dragoon game. I have a similar problem with the new turn based Yakuza games. Why would I want to watch the dragon shoot the enemies when I could be doing it myself? I don't have a problem with turn based games at all, some of them are my all time favorites, but it's the context of having other games in the franchise play completely differently that ruins these type of genre shifts for me sometimes it works like Mario RPG but in cases like this it just doesn't for me. Should have just made it a different franchise or something, nothing is gained from it being Panzer Dragoon.That aside this game sucks and is insanely shallow and boring. The combat isn't fun either even when I can set aside my preconceived notions. Yet another overhyped Saturn turd. But please, go off about how it uses VDP2 and is cool because the Saturn isn't supposed to do 3D or whatever the fuck other irrelevant nonsense you Saturn retards usually spout when you tell me it's actually based in the replies.

Today OP was not gay. I loved the battle system. It was part action RPG, part puzzle game. It was definitely more fun and engaging than most other JRPGs of that era, and the battle system is still one of the most unique I've ever experienced in an RPG. I'd enjoy if some developed iterated on it and improved it even more, somehow.I didn't like the ranking system for the battles though. Should've nixxed that
>>12125864The combat system is brilliant and having to assess how to engage every encounter and arrangement of enemies is a lot of fun. Never gets boring. There was a boss later in the game that slapped the shit out of me the first time I attempted it but the way the game encourages you to shift dragon forms to manage engagements made it a ton of fun to get an excellent rank on. It's also gorgeous.
