What are the best Namco games? I've been playing Ridge Racer and Ace Combat and absolutely love themAlso were Namco always a scummy cheap company or was it when they merged with Bandai?

>>12125869Tekken 3
>>12125915This and Soul Edge/Calibur
>>12125869Soulblade
>>12125869Xevious, Tower of Druaga (PCE), Xevious 3D/G+, Tekken 3, RR type-4 and SoulEdge are among my favorite games ever. And yes similarly to Square, Namco went to shit after the merger, mostly because Bandai was a "quantity over quality" company.
>>12125869they peaked with Galaga '88
>>12125869Namco was one of the last big companies that really cared about their games. You'd be hard-pressed to find a game by them that isn't good or better (made, not published or licensed to outside developers). Not to mention they've also pioneered a lot of things, and have the best musicians in the industry. And yes, Bandai is the devil.Play the games on the Namco Museum discs for the PSX (even the secret ones) to get a good introduction to their older stuff. You can't go wrong with anything they put out on that console in general. Druaga and Valkyrie on the PCE, Ridge Racer, Ace Combat, Baraduke, Xevious 3D, Rolling Thunder, Time Crisis, Sky Kid, Warp & Warp, Dirt Dash, Ace Driver Victory Lap, Winning Run 88, Burning Force, Aqua Jet, Cyber Cycles, Outfoxies, all that good stuff.
>>12125869Most of my favorite games from Namco are the simple arcade games like the Pac-Man titles, Dig Dug, Mappy, and Galaga. But my absolute favorite series from them are Mr. Driller and Klonoa.I’m terrible at fighting games, so stuff like Tekken and Soul Calibur are not my thing. But I know that many people love them. Also gotta give Katamari another chance. For me, it was hard to get into the controls since all my favorite Namco games have very simple controls. And the time limit would stress me out. But I did enjoy what I played of it. Very charming.
>>12126323>You'd be hard-pressed to find a game by them that isn't good or betterI mean they did make Mindseeker, and that's quite possibly the worst video game one can make.
Is it me or this Namco Museum is lacking as fuck compared to others? Where's my Valkyrie?
>>12126480the best one of these was virtual arcade on 360
Some I like worth mentioning are Pac-Land, Libble-Rabble, Splatterhouse, Numan Athletics, Outfoxies, and Prop Cycle
>>12125869If you like Ridge Racer mostly for the vibes rather than gameplay, you'll like R: Racing Evolution. Very underrated sim racer that's like nothing else.https://youtu.be/SSD6XyqBX4g?si=Y1H_-BQYbJcAkjgE
>>12126518I like both the atmosphere, comfiness and the gameplayNot retro but I've been adoring 7 lately, it's just hypnotic

To see the difference between real Namco and Bandai-Namco just look at Tekken 5 vs Tekken 8
>>12127226While Tekken 5 was good, I'd argue it had crossed over to the other side already.
Do we have a chart of their best PS1 and PS2 games?
>>12126734Hypnotic hm. 7 is an expanded version of 6, so 6 is worth giving a try too because it has a different gameplay mode and different music. And the lighting is different.

>>12125869Mappy niggaJoin the Mappy thread and post scoresGenuinely their best golden-age arcade game. Multiple ways to score with both item chaining and enemy chaining. It's kinda like Pac-Man but as a platformer.
>>12127737They're all fucking gone man. Everything. We're done.
