I personally like NBA Jam TE and think it's pretty cool there's dozens of roster romhacks for it, but I still recognize it's not a very good basketball game. Only two people on each side at once, Goal Tending is the only rule in effect, and not playing dirty is only gimping yourself. You also have very little control over the ball, with dunks being entirely up to RNG allowing you to dunk, since you can have a 10 on dunking, be on fire and alone, and the ball will still bounce out on a dunk like it was defended.
