Why doesn't Sega get credit for being ahead of the game in the 90s?
>>
>>12126840
I want a nomad but I can't bring myself to pay $300-500 for one.
>>
>>12126864
>giant cartridge sticking out the top
I'd barely want to pay 100 for one desu.
they were cool for their time no doubt, but there are so many modern alternatives now to play games that the price is just a tad much
>>
just because a nigga invented a wheel doesnt mean it was of much use yet.
>>
>>12126885
you could not have chosen a worse metaphor
>>
>>12126887
a stone wheel isnt of much use yet. it's a start, but you need spokes, tiring, a driveshaft and foremostly a structure to attach your wheel to. no, its very apt, you're just to stupid to carry a thought beyond my suggestion. just because Sega did something now everyone does, doesnt mean it was good or useful. a gameboy on the other hand was much more handy compared to the monstrosity in the OP.
>>
>>12126950
This nigger will label the Nomad a "Monstrosity" while bing bing wahooing with his Switch 2 in public

It's smaller then the switch/2, steam deck and whatever big ass "handhelds" people buy now.
>>
>>12126840
Think of all the work it would be for wikipedia editors to fix all the revisionist history journos have fed us for the past 40 years. Have some sympathy.
>>
>>12126840
Because it was expensive as fuck, sold poorly and promptly forgotten about? What are these zoomer ass questions?
>>
>>12126973
getting irrationally angry at perceived injustices and persecution that doesnt exist is textbook woman behavior. You are a prisoner of your own mind and even worse than a woman because while they actually can be the victim of sexual assault at any time you live a pathetic life where you believe nintendo fans are deleting the sega nomad from history and this frightens you.
>>
>>12126840
Pce did that shit like 5 years before
>>
>>12126981
It does a lot of leg work for me when you fill in the blanks like that, thanks.

>>12126950
you btfo'd that anon you were responding to. i just felt i had to throw that out there
>>
Wasn't the battery life on this garbage just like the Game Gear

Pretty much, it was too ahead of its time in concept and the technology in question just wasn't ready yet, so it was expensive and not very efficient (in that sense, you could almost compare it to the Virtual Boy, only that it's much better than the Virtual Boy). Like the Game Gear, you REALLY want to use it with a power cable.

It WAS really cool, and I've always kinda wanted one, but I figure I would be better off jailbreaking my old 3DS by this point and putting emulators on it,

However, the neat part about the Nomad is that you can hook it up to your TV like any other Genesis, and even plug in an extra controller for 2 player, so it was quite solid as a travel packaged system in that sense, (and especially in later years with flashcarts).
The original screens are better than the Game Gear, but still not excellent, and sometimes the screens outright wear out and develop flaws, so it's not rare to find one with a screen mod to improve its handheld utility, and usually people will want to replace the original capacitors (which will generally improve the output on the original screen).
>>
They should've just double dipped on using the Nomad as the standard Genesis from 1996 onwards, but with a switch to turn off the backlight to preserve battery power. With the gigantic Genesis library already a thing, they probably could've put up a fight against the Gameboy (assuming the backlight switch can make the battery last for at least a day).
>>
>>12126968
>>12126970
that's what anon means. These modern monstrosities like the steam deck don't require weird batteries or to be plugged in all the time. They have great screens and connection to the internet allowing for a truly seamless and mobile gaming experience. The sort of infrastructure required for such a device just didn't exist back then.
>>
>>12126840
They do.
>>
>>12126840
Same reason you don't get creddit for shitposting zoomie hot takes here
>>
Credit? What do you want? Blowjobs for all Sega corporate employees?
>>
>>12127025
>Wasn't the battery life on this garbage just like the Game Gear
And the Atari Lynx too
It's what happens when your backlight is a literal fluorescent tube
>>
They do, all the time. That's why they died, too much tech and not enough buyers
>>
>>12127346
Listen. How about saving the Sega Saturn?
>>
>>12126874
Better modern alternatives? Like the PC Engine LT?
>>
>>12127983
I dunno call me crazy but the same price as a sega nomad you can buy a steam deck.
Or spend 50-100 on a cool handheld that can emulate sega. There's so many these days.

I already admitted they are cool, but 400$ cool? i dunno.
>you're poor
yeah I guess
whatever
>>
>>12127021
It's not so much that he btfo'd anon, it's just that you're both idiots.
>>
Because gamers pay in CASH
>>
>>12128004
I bought a Nomad for like $100 23 years ago or something. It was cool. But also massively inconvenient. I never took it with me. Also the screen looked bad even for the time, and the controls weren’t great. I remember really disliking the d-pad. Anyway I ended up selling it and buying a huge collection of silly putty.
>>
>>12126840
because being ahead doesn't matter when your competition is putting out multiple groundbreaking titles that change gaming forever and you're stuck on arcade ports.
>>
>>12128248

>>

My parents wouldn’t buy me a sega because we already had a Nintendo and my friends parents were the same. It was a Nintendo neighborhood.
>>
>>12128231
don't worry it's all me talking to myself
>>
>>12126840
Because Nintendrones and Sonytards hate Sega, so they don't want to praise Sega for any ideas that Nintendo, Sony & Microsoft took.

As for the Nomad, I'd buy one myself but the price is way too high. I'd rather use my PSP for Sega Genesis handheld action.
>>
>>12126864
wow expensive
I remember deciding between a GBA SP and Nomad many years ago, they were the same price. I thought I might pick up the Nomad later but just go an NTSC console instead.
>>
>genesis, but portable, but also it drains the fuck out of a ton of batteries
Damn, revolutionary...
>>
>>12126978
This

And you picked the worst game to show it off

Most chose snes because they didn’t like genesis lack of colors, it still had good mechanics so they missed a bunch of games for it, mostly shootem ups and some platformers, sports and racing. Those beat em up ports kinda sucked
>>
>>12126864
Stuff like this always makes me regret not buying them on clearance over a decade ago. I still remember gba micro at clearance at blockbuster (no idea why they had gba micros) for less than 30 dollars back during the ds lite days. Nobody saw a point in them when everyone had a gba sp and ds.
Same with virtual boys all over pawn shops and n64 games after the gc.
>>
>>12126885
Sega Wheel©, out now for $399.99!
>>
>>12126840
>being ahead of the game in the 90s
NEC did it 5 years prior.

>inb4 failure
Hope you realize we're talking about the Nomad.
