whats his problem?
What do you think his problem is, chump? He's Death. He can't eat, can't sleep, can't die, can't touch anyone without killing them, and no one wants to be around him or even see him, since seeing him means you are likely to die. If I was Death, I'd run at people while swinging the scythe and screaming just to terrorize the shit out of people before they die.
>>12127213He's just doing his job, trying to make a living.
This game (and its cousins) had some pretty unusual music for the NES. A lot of bullshit deaths though.

>>12127385>This game (and its cousins) had some pretty unusual music for the NES.yep. really atmospheric and unique. deja vu in particular has some of my favorite nes music, even though the only one of these three kemco games i think is really good is shadowgate. deja vu's solution is kinda dumb and uninvited i really didnt like due to cluttered inventory and completely non-sensical solutions

>>12127276Grim reapers and other such figures are grossly misunderstood. Any "reaper" is basically a glorified fucking janny who has to sweep up the souls of the departed so they don't go rogue and start fucking shit up in the realm of the living. If you were Death, you'd do none of that shit because you'd be too busy jumping from soul to soul sending them to the underworld. No time for anything cool. No rest for the wicked. Life as a reaper would be grim as fuck.
>>12128167Maybe THE grim reaper (I've not heard of grim reapers, plural) is like Father Christmas in that time is a meaningless concept to him and he can be anywhere he's needed.
>>12127563Heh replayed this one last week for halloween. I absolutely would not have been able to handle that bitch when I was a kid.
>>12128197Furthermore are there any other adventure type games for the nes besides these nightshade and Maniac Mansion?
>>12128197ha. same that game was scary as fuck even on nintendo. I think I called the nintendo help line for this game with my parents permission of course.
>>12127385The deaths really were the stars of the game tho and its not like it actually punished you outside of going back one room
>>12128203I’m not sure how many other Western adventure games were ported to NES, but there are a lot of Japanese adventure games that are similar, but not quite the same style. Portopia Serial Murder Case by Chunsoft/Enix, the Famicom Detective Club games, Metal Slader Glory by HAL, Namco’s Sanma no Meitantei, Ripple Island by Sunsoft, and Nakayama Miho, Square and Nintendo’s high school adventure/dating sim.
>>12128274It's really dumb that Sierra didn't port more of their games to the NES. I would have loved to play them as a kid.
>>12128203Not counting JP only releases, there's the three MacVenture games(Shadowgate, Uninvited, Deja Vu), Tombs and Treasure(semi-RPGish adventure game, you level up by solving puzzles), that horrible King's Quest 5 port, Princess Tomato in the Salad Kingdom, Nightshade and Maniac Mansion as you mentioned, and Times of Lore. The MacVentures and Maniac Mansion are probably the best of the lot.
>>12128167>Life as a reaper would be grim as fuck.Unless you were one of the cute ones
>>12129486>anime slopThat's just propaganda by big underworld to paint the job as more glamorous than it is. Japan has a huge problem with wicked spirits and few skilled exorcists anymore, so there's been a huge push to convince people to become soul jannies after they perish.
dealing with your ass likely

>>12127213What kind of retard plays this on NES? LOL
What i wonder is, what was the guard in the pit? a demon? a ogre? a zombie dinosaur?
>>12131621Always figured it was like those baboon bat demons from Dragon Quest 2.
