I've finally gotten 103% in DKC3. However, I've heard that there's a cheat code menu where you can unlock harder versions of the game. I can look that up just fine, but is there anywhere in-game where you can learn those codes organically? Or were you just expected to buy a guidebook back at the time?

You needed to Get the Power.

That is mathematically impossible, 100% is the highest percentage, the maximum, the limit. e.g. if Biĺly has 3 apples and Sally has none then Billy has 100% of the apples. I'm suprised this bug didn't crash the hardware, a really testament to Nintendo engineering. In any case, cheating is immoral, it's the video gaming equivalent of witchcraft. Even guidebooks are pushing it. Just enjoy the game as it was intended. If you keep going down this road of pushing things beyond their natural limits you're going to end up getting into scat porn, beastiality, etc.

After a quick glance through the official Nintendo Player's Guide, there was no mention of any cheats.

is it cringe that i refuse to play this game because of the babby character?

HOW IS BABBY FORMED?

You know those magazines that had cheat codes?
How do you think the cheat codes reached the magazines?
The developers sent them to the magazines.

No, there's no way to learn the codes in-game.

Yeah the cheats were published in NP long after the game came out. This isn't the only time Rare would do something like this, there were a bunch of Banjo cheats you could do in that room where you had to spell things out that weren't revealed until like after a year the game had been out.
I like the DKC 3 cheats though, my favorite one is the one that turns the bonus games Christmas themed.

Good question, I have no idea OP
It's kinda lame that the highest % is locked behind a cheat code now that I think about it

Jesus is embarassed

No, the game itself doesn't reveal the codes by means of unlocking or easter egg. None of the games in the original series.

I only learned about them about six months after 100%'ing the game and reading about them in an issue of EGM at a grocery store. On that note, did any other anons used to do that? Go grocery shopping with parents and then head off to the magazine aisle and read the gaming mags. My favorites were Tips n' Tricks and EGM,

I did exactly that and if they also sold players guides, i would peak at parts i was stuck on, or flip through the guides of games i really wanted to get.

Oh yeah, I remember once finding the versus guide for RE3 at Vons (aka safeway) right after christmas of '99. Perfect timing too since I had gotten the game as a gift and was stuck.
