Same problem as with many other early RPGs - they're very grindy and boring.
It's understandable when you take into account limitations of platforms they were made on, but that doesn't make your experience better.

Some of the best games of all time. It was the system seller for the TurboGrafx to me. Music so good, I even use the game CDs in an actual CD player.
