I have bad vision so when I play at 4K it looks like CRT for me.
>>
because it (objectively) looks better.

Why indeed?
>>
Imagine playing Baldur's Gate like this in 2025. Literally psychotic.
>>
>>12131921
I only really do it with PS2 games, and only at 2x, and only with a good set of CRT filters over it.
It helps with games where you frequently need to read environmental details, like street signs, without losing too much of the soul.
But I agree that the vast majority of time it makes games worse.

99% of pre-2004 games look like shit when rendered above 800x600

rendered at original resolution on original hardware but upscaled

I play Super Metroid & Super Mario World stretched to full screen. I just prefer it that way.
>>

Only on planet retard
>>
>>12131921
playing games that expand the PoV with resolution, like diablo, is cheating.
>>
>>12131921
That's not higher resolution. You just took a low-res screenshot and stretched it out.
>>
>>12131921
2x resolution is fine but anything more than that for 3d stuff is overkill and does not produce better results.

OH NONONONONONONONONONONONONONO
>>
>>12131921
If you arent playing on a crt you need to upscale the resolution somehow

>He doesn't play 320x240 games in 4K.
Too bad, sucka.
If I can I'll upscale and/or up the internal resolution. If I can't, I stretch to fit to my 4K screen in orig ratio.
I played NES - PS2 on orig hardware on CRT, it sucked and doesn't make you special.
But by all means, you do you.
>>
>>12133404
And many games weren't even rendered to 320x240.
Do you see... a difference?

Just to drive the point home, look at the PSX screenshot on my 4K one. Can you even see it?
>>
5th gen no, but 6th gen graphics I prefer at modern resolutions.
>>
Games that got pre-rendered graphics in combination with 3d need either a high-res textures patch or you should just play them at the original resolution. Pretty much everything else will look better at the display's native resolution and game's native aspect ratio. Shadera also tend to work better when the image is upscaled.

If you want authenticity, go play on a crt. Playing on a modern screen at a lower resolution is no more authentic and a much worse experience.
