Choose left or right for each side. I think ATM I go right, right, left, though opinions fluctuate
C3<CHCCV4<BloodlinesTIT>HH
>>12132228>>12132252Am I the only hyper stone heist lover
>>12132228Genesis is the nice change of pace when you wanted something elseeveryone loved snes more thenThey’re close enough to equal though snes jus had a nicer pallette so people chose it more
>>12132252I agree with the exception of Castlevania. Not because I think 4 is better but because I think 4 is so different in approach to bloodlines that I don't think they're comparable unlike the other two.
>>12132252Literally me
>>12132228I don't give a shit about Contra or the turtles I only care about Castlevania and Bloodlines is better
>>12132228They're all good, but those SNES games are on another level. If they would have gave Hard Corps the same life bar as The Hard Corps for Megadrive it would be a much better game.
>>12132252NHH > HH ?
>>12132493As someone who grew up with the Genesis I feel the same way. It's crazy how we actually got so many good games back then. Each platform had great sister games that were completely different but were developed nearly the same time.
>>12133278Cartridge forced invention
>>121322523>HC (not a fan of HC's boss rush style) TiT>HH (HH is just and inferior TiT all around) I like Bloodline and bit better than 4 for gameplay but presentation wise it's kinda lame for '94
>>12132228Right right rightSNES library is still overall better though
Hard to go wrong between Contras and Castlevanias but I definitely prefer Hard Corps and slightly prefer Bloodlines. Comparing the TMNT games is like splitting hairs. I have so much nostalgia for the brawler genre but even an above average one like both of those TMNT games, there's just so little going on there. They look great and feel great but they're paper thin. Plenty of good games but the more time goes on the more I think SoR2 and 3 are the only exceptional 16-bit beat em ups. What the fuck is up with Castlevania though? It's unreal how many GREAT GAMES are in that series.
>>12132228When it comes to the SNES, and only the SNES, I'm a Nintendie. Left, left, left.
List needs Sparkster
>>12132486if you have both its hard to go with HH but personally I like the way it feels to play HH just 1% more better than TITIts got this snappyness to it
All of them are great. Also like >>12134005 said include Sparkster.Plus Treasure games like Gunstar Heroes and Alien Soldier are great too.
>>12134005I'm pretty sure the Genesis Sparkster is superior enough that it's not really a contest for that game.
>>12134589Genesis sparkster is the worst game in that series, RKA and snes Sparkster are both good, RKA is a bit more inspired for being the original title
>>12134613I think you got your Sparksters reversed. The Genesis game is much better than the SNES one.
>>12134652No, MD Sparkster got the b team, SNES one looks and plays way better and overall feels closer to Rocket Knight Adventures.
>>12133890>but the more time goes on the more I think SoR2 and 3 are the only exceptional 16-bit beat em upsThey were the best tech demos but gameplay wise there were other games just as good or that tried different stuff. Ghost Chaser Densei had easily the most advanced combat with crazy juggles and a huge moveset (izuna-fucking-drop), Technos had their cool karate simulators that were arguably better than their arcades, plus their unique jarpig hybrids. Ninja Warriors Again masterfully combined Spartan X with modern beat em up combat, Mad stalker did something similar, Sonic Blastman 2 was as good as capeshit gets, Comix Zone had interesting adventure game stuff and Gourmet is peak bakage.
>>12132228Genesis music makes me die inside.
>>12134698You got it backwards other than the SNES's gameplay being closer to the first game. SNES game was directed by Hideo Ueda. Genesis game was directed by Yasushi Takano. They're both good, but it's clear that the Genesis version got people that worked on Bloodlines. Certainly no "b team".
>>12134716>Ghost Chaser DenseiLiterally nobody played that in the 90s.
>>12134720That's because you don't have a good Megadrive / Genesis. There's so many hardware revisions for the console that affect Video and Audio output drastically. Unfortunately I grew up with an early Model 2, so I got one if the worst sounding ones and I didn't really notice back then. Now I do.
>>12134732>ad populumI bet you'd suck cocks if everyone else did too
>>12134731>Bloodlines. Certainly no "b team".Gameplay is arguably but the audiovisuals aren't, very underwhelming for a late MD title, similarly MD Sparkster is underwhelming compared to RKA
>>12134746You can wax poetic about games only foreigners played all day because you are judging as someone playing them all on emulators. But the soul of retro gaming is the people who owned the consoles as kids and have real attachment to them
>>12134757>implying imports, bootlegs and emus weren't big as early as mid 90sYou are only proving you are a poser bandwagon who doesn't care about quality, belt scroller is a japanese genre foremost.
>>12132228>Hard Corps > Contra 3I like both and HC isn't without flaws (it's pretty much just a boss rush while 3 has more fleshed out levels, there's a lot of waiting during scripted events), but it's just so cool and memorable and the alternate paths and multiple characters each with their own weapons make it better.>Bloodlines > SCV4Again Bloodlines has its flaws, the latter half of the game is blatantly unfinished and it's too fast paced for classic CV standards, but 4 has even more flaws, despite being a good game.(Dracula X clears both)>TiT > HHYeah here there's really no competition. HH controls slightly better, but loses in every other aspect. Too little enemy variety, levels too long and samey, too few bosses and they even get recycled in a boss rush, a lot of bugs. It was rushed out of the door and it shows.
>>12134774>implying imports, bootlegs and emus weren't big as early as mid 90sThey we'rent. Imports costed a fortune, no normal people buy imports now even, it's still turbonerd niche shitAnd LOL no emulation was not a thing in the mid 90s. Most people in the 90s didn't even have a fucking computer even if it was
