Enjoyed it a lot but why in the hell is the final dungeon and most of the bosses there including Kefka so fucking hard compared to the rest of the game? But yeah anyway I beat the first six FF games on NES/SNES and I regret sleeping on this series for so long, there's a certain charm to these games that makes them stand out. My final ranking isV > VI > III > I = IV > III liked all of them, II is at the bottom not because I got filter'd by the game mechanics, I actually think they are cool, it's just that I enjoyed playing it the least, particularly because of the dungeon design. How'd you rank the games, guys? What are your favorite moments, music tracks, artworks, etc? I'm really excited to finally play FFVII
>>12132273>final dungeon hardyou were supposed to explore the world first, anon. a lot has changed since the floating continent.
>>12132297 I used a guide to check what I had missed before the final dungeon and did pretty much everything, got all of the characters and espers. Cyan's questline is probably my favorite
>>12132305>used a guidedidnt beat the game
>the game's final exam is hardAnon I really hope you're over 18. In any case, good on you for playing a good game.
So is Shadow supposed to be Relm's father or what
>>12132345Yes
>>12132318Nothing wrong with using a guide for a game from the time when you were expected to buy one in order to be able to find all the secrets. FF games had stuff hidden so meticulously you couldn't just do certain stuff by chance.
>>12132318>>12132348Some stuff in WoR really is very hard to find without a guide, you'd be missing out on some neat story scenes
>>12132273This was my absolutely favorite game growing up, and I honestly never enjoyed the multi-party dungeons.
Cultists' Tower has got to be the most annoying fucking dungeon in the entire 2D FF lineup, thank GOD for moogle charm. Really a shame because in terms of atmosphere it's among the best actually
>>12132384Sorta reminds me of Tartarus with hundreds of floors. And then additional Tartarus called The Monad. And then the additional Tartarus called The Answer.
i like when there is a difficulty spike in jrpg
>>12132273I've played thru this a few times and always thought it was the opposite Kefka is an anticlimactic pushoverEven skipping most wor extras, just getting full parties, not super challengingVII is a big disappointment compared to this, by the way. Linear game with juvenile edge lord story. VIII is better.
>>121324716 is also edgy as fuck all things considered, the game's just more subtle about it so to speak. The only FF game that's actually dark with 0 teen angst type shit is FF2 unironically, you have to feel it though
>>12132471>VII is a big disappointment compared to this, by the way. Linear game with juvenile edge lord story. VIII is better.VIII is just for kids who listen to Poison the Well while VII is for kids who listen to Nine Inch Nails.
>>12132527Then VI is for kids listening to Nirvana and following their leader.
>*flashes* Incorrect Blitz input!FFFFUUUAAAAAAAA
Um? I don't get it. Did you want the final dungeon and Kefka to be easier than the previous parts in the game? Anyhow, good for you and enjoy FF7, it's my favorite.
>>12132273>Kill Kefka after he slurps up all the magic becoming God of Magic >Magic is now gone forever lol That shitstain Lynch would be proud. Just a Final Fart for the ending.
>>12132645For what do you need magic anymore at that point?
>>12132348>in order to be able to find all the secrets. FF games had stuff hidden so meticulously you couldn't just do certain stuff by chance. It's ok to not find everything. That's what replays are for. Plus, discussing things with other players and realizing that you both found different things is fun.
>>12132646NTA but to heal people I guess
>>12132660Use potions
I'm glad you enjoyed them. VII is a great game too. Gameplay, music, graphics, story, it's all there.
>>12132348true but sometimes games get really annoying if you wanna autistically 100% them.>t. did that with 6 and 7, couldn't even do the weapon superbosses in the latter even with a guide>>12132554there's actually a trick to his blitzes, you can press his buttons twice instead of doing diagonals and it makes him so much better if you can't into fighting inputs.
>>12132646To create a new Jedi Order that will bring peace to the fractured world.
>seemingly weak guy returns as a literal demonThey did this with Garland and Emperor too but Kefka is the first villain in the series to have at least some sort of a personality. Every endboss before him is a literal who you meet towards the end of the game except Garland who appears during the first hour of FF1 and then fucks off for the rest of the journey
>>12132348Gonna say I disagree. I see this defense a lot, but a lot of us didn't have access to guides back then either. The most natural experience isn't supposed to be condensed down to an afternoon or two, these games were supposed to take time to beat. Having to find secrets and sidequests was part of the experience. They're fine for completionist runs, but you shouldn't be going for one of those on your first time.
>>12132273It's always like this. They want you to spend a bunch of time exploring and levelling up before final boss for every square game minus maybe chrono trigger
>>12133421Chrono Trigger is a baby ass game like SMRPG in terms of difficulty
>>12133421nah they give you a section at the end with a bunch of sidequests. plus the black seal part earlier on.
>>12132273If I may ask, how did you prepare for the final dungeon, and how did you equip your characters? I ask because FF6 has a lot of ridiculous abilities and setups that make the endgame a complete joke even at lower levels, and it's even possible to solo the entire final battle with just one character if you equip them properly. If you had a hard time with it, I can surmise that you didn't know about the broken setups or chose not to abuse them, which is fine. In any case, IMO the final dungeon and boss SHOULD be the game's ultimate challenge, with the possible exception of bonus dungeons with super bosses. I WISH Kefka or the game as a whole were actually challenging, but I know too damn much about the game for him to be a threat now. Thankfully, there's T-Edition for that.
>>12132645Was it really through I always assumed it would come back & Terra would rediscover her magic was still there?
>>12132645Humans and magic simply don't mix. Whenever they get a taste of it, they go full ham and don't stop until every other magical creature has had enough of their shit and fucks off to another plane of existence.
