I usually only mess around with cheats after I already beat the game, especially on games you can save I'm paranoid about using cheats and accidentally saving and ruining my save file with cheats
The only exception was RE2, I beat it with infinite ammo my first time playing when I was a kid

Probably every kid who's played GTA fucked around with cheats before beating the game, but the nature of GTA's design makes it a bit different

No but I savestate and fastforward

Sims
I used infinite money because I wanted to see what all the objects did
>>
There was a point in time where I wouldn't start a game until I put in all the Gameshark codes, at bare minimum I needed invincibility enabled

I remember uncle gifting me a cd for ps1 which had list of games that could have cheats activate for them.
So I would go through games and get the ones that were on the list.
Diablo is a game that you should probably play with cheats to avoid the grind although thats like the whole genre thing

Yes. I usually try games out on an emulator first. This is not only cheating, but not even really playing the game.

I give myself a nice cash injection in jarpigs so I can always buy everything, gear for everyone I don't even use, all the items, of course I still don't USE the items, as is the unwritten law

Cheating was the only way I could beat games until I was like 10.
>>

When I was like 10 or so, I didn't understand the concept of challenge because I didn't know a single other person who played video games. To me at the time, it was only a binary question of did I beat the game or not, and so I always picked the easiest difficulty (Why would I pick one that made me weaker, who would want to be less powerful?) and use cheats on most games. For example, I played FFIX with infinite AP and MP, which had some weird side effect of disabling trance.

It wasn't until I actually found other people to play games with I realized the concept of difficulty settings was to compare our achievements to each other. Beating a game on easy didn't mean as much as doing it on normal, which was lesser than hard, so I found myself going back and playing games like Metal Gear Solid on hard difficulty just so I could one up my friends on it.

He knows, he just doesn't care. Mods don't either
