>lend your friend a video game
>returns it with the manual missing or the box gone
>>
>>12132391
I've lent stuff like 4 times in my entire life and every time something bad happened
Never lending anything ever again
>>
>lend disc to friend
>never get it back
>never press the issue
>>
>kindergarten
>at friend's house
>has factory-sealed game he got earlier that day
>be spoiled little shit and ask to borrow it before he fucking opens it
>he hesitates but i somehow convince him
>take a week to return the game despite promising it'd only be a couple days but it's in perfect condition when i do
>moves away over the summer without warning a few years later
>over a decade later, read story on /v/ that's uncannily identical to his situation except the packaging and maybe disc being completely ruined when it was finally returned
>>
>>12132442
to give you an idea of how identical, it was the same fucking game
>>
>>12132442
>>12132443
maybe he just wanted to spice up the story to actually make it interesting or to have it unfold the way he feared while it occurred.
>>
>they move
>game gone forever
Rip super metroid
>>
I ended a friendship with someone as a kid because I lent him all my PS1 games and didn't get my Spyro 2 disc back but it turned out years later that he just put the disc into my Spice World case for some fucking reason.
>>
>>12132408
I accidentally did this and kept my friends copy of FF7. I feel bad about it.
>>
>>12132391
Mine would jus say “I thought you were giving it to me” or blame me for being too uptight

Even though the day before they asked for $5 after picking me up from somewhere
>>
>>12132449
that was me motherfucker, you moved to another city without giving it back and claimed it got lost in transit. I'll never forgive you, I loved my FF7 so much

You've made a new thread with the same frog in the same greentext format every day for the past three weeks. Ritualposting should be bannable.
>>
>get a game
>it's awesome
>tell my friend how awesome it is
>asks to borrow it
>sure, here you go buddy
>couple of weeks later
>so how was the game
>no response
>ask again a few weeks later
>no response
>demand it back
>brings it to school
>I didn't play it much past the beginning
>disc looks as though it's been through a shredder

Pretty much the same thing happened a few years earlier with another friend but in that case the game came back undamaged. Like, he had it for three weeks and didn't even try it.
>>
>>12132538
Sorry Nabeel
>>
>>12132561
dude I actually have an arabic name (not nabeel though), next you'll tell me you have a nordic name...
>>
>>12132535
frog website

>>12132550
if that were true you could provide an archive link to every one of those threads but you cannot as you are full of shit. Complaining about threads you don't like should be bannable.
>>
>shithead school mate who i didn't trust found out I owned a DC
>begged me to loan him some games
>very hesitant and kept saying "nah"
>as a show of goodwill he loaned me a game(some mediocre racing game)
>still asking for me to loan him something but I kept putting him off
>all the sudden kid is gone and never shows up to school again
>found out later he was a foster kid and got kicked out of his home for stealing/behavior
Fuck you Craig I sold the game you probably stole from some other kid
>>
>>12132391
I lent my friend my copy of alttp and he “lost it”. So when my other friends and I were over I stole some games from him when nobody was looking. Absolute faggot.
>>
>>12132569
I actually have a Jewish name (I’m not Jewish though)
>>
>>12132575
What if he actually lost it and you took the opportunity to be a thieving nignog
>>
>>12132581
I have a biblical name that people always think is Jewish. Fuck my religious parents.
>>
>>12132582
How do you “lose” a game? I know he traded it in for store credit. First party Nintendo games always gave the best store credit at trade ins.
>>
>>12132546
White people.
>>
>>12132582
If he lost it then he should've replaced it or given something of equal value, which it doesn't sound like he did.

I never knew a kid who lost their own video games.
>>
>loan game to good trustworthy friend
>couple weeks go by ask for game back
>"oh I loaned it to so and so who I'm friends with but not you so he has it"
Why do people think its ok to loan others people stuff especially without asking?
>>
>>12132449
you threw it against the wall because the weedout boss took a shit on your face, and here you are--in 2025--in a shitposting board about how you couldn't admit you had a chimpout moment and "lost" his game to a brick wall. you owe him $75 still, bud...

>Lending a game of your own without asking your friend to lend you a game of his own as insurance
Not gonna make it.
Manking thrived on mutual cooperation, not charity.
>>
>>12132391
Never had that happen in the NES/Genesis days.
I even lent out my two gold Zelda carts and they came back without a scratch--and they told me that they thought they were real gold.
Morals have slipped massively in the past few decades and it directly affects gamers.
>>
>>12132748
>they thought they were real gold.
100% they were planing on stealing them but when they asked their parents about it they told them that plastic slop is not real gold so they gave up
>>
>>12132391
The main issue I encountered was people forgetting they had it. I still have a Yuri's Revenge expansion disc with me, from a friend who never asked for it back back in 2002 or whenever it was.
Likewise my copy of MGS2 might have been lost forever had I not remembered to ask for it back from a different friend.
>>
i can't help it. they named me emmanuel so i take 'em all
>>
>>12132391
Why would you give them the box and the manual? Just lend out the cart only or you're asking for your shit to get ruined.
>>
I'm glad my friends weren't assholes, we traded games all the time and the thought of them not giving it back never crossed my mind.
>>
>>12132962
how very white of you
>>
>>12132962
This, I even lent my PS1 to a friend once, and he lent me his N64 in return so I could play Mario 64.
>>
>>12132905
No, their mom (dad was not there) thought they were gold too. They had borrowed games before and since then and never gave me a problem.
Furthermore, I lent games out to probably a half dozen kids in middle school and early high school and got them all back complete and in mint condition. I wasn't even that popular, so I guess maybe they didn't want to abuse their free rental service?
>>
>>12132446
Kingdom Hearts 1. He probably saved me from being a faggot.

I had someone return a game and music cd like this. Luckily they were both CD's I didn't give a shit about but I was like come on. Really? Lmao are you fucking retarded?
>>
>>12132748
>>12133074
I also used to lend and borrow games and movies from kids at school I barely even knew and always had a fine experience with it.
>>
>>12133153
That's good to hear, anon, I was beginning to wonder if all the good fortune concerning the borrowing of video games went all to me, but some went to you as well. Seems everyone else got screwed from all the stories though.
>>
>>12132905
>that plastic slop

What had to go wrong in your brain to set you up to awkwardly jam the trendy word "slop" into this description?
>>
>>12132391
My friends were good about borrowing/trading games and bringing them back in one piece. Someone stole my Gameboy Advance once while I was borrowing my friend's copy of Sega Arcade Gallery, so I let that friend keep the copy of Mercenaries 2 he was borrowing.
>>12132408
I learned a few weeks ago that I did this to my friend. He lent me No More Heroes (I know I know, not retro) in 2009. I beat it a few months later, then we both completely forgot about it. We were talking about Wii games and he brought up how he used to own it but didn't know what happened to his copy and I was like "Wait shit, I think I borrowed it 16 years ago. I should still have it if you want it."
Then we went back to my place and I dug around in my room for a half hour until I found it and gave him back his disc. Maybe you just need to casually bring the game up in conversation and their memory will kick in.

>~2006
>high school
>guy i'm not friends with but friendly with gives me MGS2 in a thin blue plastic CD snap case, said it's my kind of game and i'd like it
>never particularly cared for the series, fucked around in it for ~2 hours >never touched it again, never gave it back, we never talk about the game again
thanks for reading my xanga
>>
>>12132391
>lend game
>never get it back
>lend music on CD
>never get it back
>lend PS2 network adapter
>never get it back
I never lend stuff to anyone any more. people are pieces of shit.
>>
>>12132546
I care, you fucking gato neko
>>
You people had shitty friends. I lent my friend my Xbox and multiple games for weeks and he returned them pristine.
>>
>>12132483
people in America think they're allowed to steal when borrowing something.
>>
>leave PS2 at "friend's"
>literally won't reply to texts
>show up at his apartment and take my shit back
nice try.
>>
>>12132391
Never loan anything to anyone. In many cases you will be getting nothing back or discs that are scratched.

>>12132408
I had similar situation. I loaned some poor kid from my class, a few PS2 and PC games because he kept asking me for games. He reminded me of it weeks later but he didn't return them. At the end of the year another classmate even told me how he was bragging to him about not giving them back. I couldn't be bothered to invest time into getting my stuff back because I thought it wasn't worth the hassle, I thought it were just some old games back then. I wish I had now.
>>
>>12133108
To be honest I think these people are mentally-ill or something. Scratched disc? Possibly wont work anymore.
>>
>>12133074
>No, their mom (dad was not there) thought they were gold too
no wonder they dumped those dumb bitches
