Is it a bad series?
Mainline games are bad. Ports are hidden gems.
I remember gaming magazines making a big deal about this series back in the day.
I liked the original Toshinden when it released but even back then I knew the gameplay was pretty shitty. But there was nothing like it so it got a pass. The music is fantastic though.

>>12132481I don't think so. It was closer to the Street Fighter series gameplay than Virtua Fighter at first. Tamsoft, the developers of the series, are the developers to the Simple series which are meant to be budget games made on the cheap to sell for cheap, and through their constant flood of ideas, some hit like the Onechanbara or Earth Defense Force games, as such I think the Toshinden is another winner of their budget line of games. I hear Eida is going to publish the game again for Switch, so another win for preservation.
