>attempting DKC2 102% deathless>die 5 times in the early game>dont die a single time in the last 2 worlds of the gamedoes anyone know this feel? im just hoping i can come across some boomer wisdom.
>>12134193cant say i know what this feels like. i have a job.
>>12134193You're not supposed to actually finish a SNES game. No one did that.
You didn't die during the bird race (Screech's Sprint) even once?Bollocks.
>>12134193If you dont have the retroachievement for beating it deathless then i simply wont believe you
>>12134193>some boomer wisdom.Nobody played it like that. They played it like a normal non-autistic person.
>>12134263>You didn't die during the bird race (Screech's Sprint) even once?yeah, had to play through it twice actually. one to beat the race and another time to get the DK coin.
>>12134259it only took a little under 2 hours to get to K rool with all the bonuses and DK coins dude.. and im far from a speedrunner. you have the time to retro game my friend
>>12134193The best aspect of this game is finding all the thingies. Once you've done that you're finished. Play something else. Deathless runs are boring exercises in masochism.
>>12134193The designers inculcated you into their ecosystem, trained you on the expectations, and you adapted well. They used to try to do design like this in games, it was pretty cool. Then the whole “movie game” thing happened and no one was allowed to have fun anymore
>>12134391>Once you've done that you're finished. Play something elseI have to master the game before I can claim to be a fan of the game/series.
>>12134193you steeled yourself for the harder levels, but in doing that you became overconfident on the easier ones
>>12134391Nah I would argue that the secrets in the DKC trilogy are nonsense-tierCranky’s hints can give you an idea, but there are FAR too many breakable walls or pass through walls that have almost zero visual indication Not to mention the barrels hidden offscreen in pits It’s guidebait, plain and simple How in the fuck were you honestly supposed to find the secrets hidden INSIDE of other secrets when the game doesn’t really tell you that’s a thing? One of the things 3 did right was making secrets consistent. Every level has 2 bonus rooms and 1 coin, done.Meanwhile 1 can have you searching for hours because who’s to say if the level has 1 bonus or 5?It’s just nonsense. The Retro Country games at least provide visual indicators of where certain things are hidden.
>>12136638Man. I miss the full printed binder I had as a kid with all of the secret locations for the DKC trilogy.
>>12136638> Cranky’s hints can give you an idea, but there are FAR too many breakable walls or pass through walls that have almost zero visual indication Not to mention the barrels hidden offscreen in pitsThis ONLY applies to the first one, and even then only a handful of bonus rooms in 1 are genuinely obscure. In the other two games, bonus rooms are well hidden, but all very feasible to find, I 102/3% them both no problem.
>>12136643Make a new one!
>>12136764I'd rather just use a guide. Finding joy in literal scavenger hunting is juvenile. I play these games to test my mechanics not to play hide and seek.
>>12134193You got gud
