>don't put points into lockpicking
>softlock the game

Going to back to jank like the original Fallout games feels so bad after playing modern rpg titles. Props to the genius who first thought to put keys and passwords on NPC corpses.
>>
why were these two never fixed and remastered
>>
only lockpick you need lil bro
>>
>>12134686
Interplay probably lost the source code and Bethesda doesn't feel like reverse engineering it.
>>
>>12134686
>fallout fixt
>fallout 2 restoration project
>>
>>12134686
Todd has said in an interview that he prefers to have old games preserved as they are, or something to that effect, when talking about remakes

>use explosives on locker containing critical plot item
>the locker just disappears along with all its contents
Sorry everyone, the wasteland belongs to the enclave now.
>>
>make bad decision
>lose
Keep crying bitch.
>>
>>12134863
This "bad decision" is the equivalent of flipping cards.
>Oh you didn't randomly select the right card? That will be dozens of hours wasted. Better luck next time!
It's just bad game design you dull faggot.

I think he might have been lying

>didn't make a backup save and somehow that's the games fault
>>
>>12134914
remastered's autolevelling is as shitty as it ever been so they've gone to great lengths to preserve the oblivion experience
>>
>>12134686
>fixed and remastered
pick one
>>
>>12134672
This is the RPG version of bullshit point and click adventure game design where you make a mistake early on in the game, have zero way of knowing that, then find out much later and have to start all over again
>>
>>12134996
and that's a good thing. you shouldn't feel entitled to beating a game designed around replayability.
>>
>>12134832
Translation: there's no money in it
>>
>>12135012
if that were true you wouldn't have every company pumping them out left and right
>>
i don't remember you ever being required to pick one, but you can use plenty of items. if nothing else there is no level cap so just put a level or two worth of points nto the skill
>>
>>12135031
No one is pumping out a fallout 2 remake
There's money in remakes but not all remakes
>>
>>12134672
Just so you know, the restoration project upped the lockpick requirement to get into Vic's room by A LOT. Should've stuck to vanilla, lad. RP is just a bad mod in general, and all the cut content included is downright awful.
>>
>>12134908
Skill issue. Get good.
>>
>>12135075
do you even have to enter Vic's room to beat the game?
>>
>>12135092
>build issue, build your character like the devs want
Ftfy
>>
>>12135101
I don't remember well, but it simplifies things a lot
>>
>>12135104
Anyone who doesn't pick lockpicking in an RPG is basically retarded. It's always great.
>>
>>12135572
What's the point of an RPG if I need to take a skill
Thats just iluaion of choice
>>
>>12135586
>roleplay as a failure who can't even handle basic life skills
>fail
Now that's immersion.
>>
>>12135586
Allowing people to make bad decision rewards the people who make smart decisions.
>>
>>12135613
>life skill
Can you lockpick?
>>
>>12135641
Maybe ;)
>>
>>12134863
>Game lets you do anything
>But not THIS thing, which you won't know will softlock the game until you play it
Garbage.
>>
>>12135694
I'm sorry you dumped all your points into barter/gambling/outdoorsman. Maybe next time you'll make a character with actual survival potential.
>>
>>12135791
>you played an open-ended RPG the wrong way so you'll now be punished
thankfully annoying faggots like yourself don't actually make the games
>>
>>12135101
It just gets you a radio earlier so you don't have to travel back to Klamath from the Den
>>
>>12135859
Wrong. I made Fallout 2.
>>
>>12135859
How did you play the wrong way? What moment softlocked you because a lock couldn't be picked? I can't think of any that didn't have alternative solutions aside from save abusing and getting yourself stuck somehow.
>>
Can't you get a companion to pick a lock or am I misremembering? And aren't there items that will raise the lockpicking skill to supplement those who don't tag it?
>>
>>12136624
yeah, there were lockpicks
I think there even was an electric lockpick later too though I remember having some kind of issue with it
>>
>>12135586
You can build retarded life choices IRL, it's only fair that you can ingame as well
>>
>>12136631
Hey, it's not like I chose the Autism trait.
Being forced to play a prebuilt char is bullshit.
>>
>>12136641
Just remember that you're a true gamer playing on hard mode, while we're just bein' casuals living on easy
>>
>>12136642
all these fucking gifted charismatic gunslingers here
>>
>>12135641
Yeah actually, cant do anything super advanced but I can get through standard masterlock or kwikset locks without much trouble. In the fallout universe the skill would be much more valuable to have though unlike in our world.
>>

is the gun not a gun
