Do Sonic fans really think this is some highbrow game?
>>12137194For an early 90s platformer it was
>>12137194what's that supposed to mean? it's a great game, nothin more or less to it than that. anyway quit advertising faggot
>>12137913It’s a game known for 1 (one) good level. Most people shut it off after getting through the first zone.
>>12137985Chemical plant zone sold the game
>>12137985That’s Sonic 1 not 2
>>12137991>water in a sonic level
>>12137194i had a genesis growing up (no SNES) with all the sonic games so i revere these games. 3&K is the best looking game on the genesis and one of the best looking in all of 4th gen. but they're kind of in their own niche. they're platformers with speed. in recent years i started playing all the SNES games i never had growing up and true platformers like SMW/SMW2 completely blow the sonic games out of the water in terms of quality, depth, and quantity. it actually makes me angry and wonder why all the sonic games have so few stages compared to the mario games.
>>12138056Because sonic stages are multilayer you stupid piece of shit. You don’t have to lie bro
>>12137194The math is complex so that the gameplay seems simple.
>>12137194There's no such thing as a high brow video game unless it's something like video chess or maybe some strategy games(though I haven't found many that aren't designed for midwits or children like clash of clans or civilization)
>>12138067that still doesn't make up for it. i don't think it's a case of "uhhh well all the sonic stages are completely unique and barely reuse assets whereas the mario levels constantly reuse assets/music". very rarely playing the snes mario games was i annoyed that i was playing a repeat level. it's a fact that you can beat any of the sonic games in a fraction of the time as the SNES mario games. it just seems like the sonic games could have had more compared to other platformers
>>12138013That's aquatic ruin which has water that can be skipped just like chemical plant zone
>complicatedHe means that the entire game is not a consistent level of superb for every Zone.
>>12138082Multilevel as in multiple parts you can take. Sonic focuses on fewer more replayable levels than Mario.>I don’t want to go fastGoing fast is a reward for learning how to play the game well, if you sick you’ll go slow
>>12138013That's not water
>>12138082I find the SNES mario games to be shallow and pedantic.
>>12138102>uhm ackshually water isn’t purpleYou have to do platforming with Sonic’s slipper controls in rising water that slows all your momentum and movement. If you miss a jump you will drown. Who thought this was a good idea? Why do sonic games constantly try to add difficulty by slowing you down in water and drowning you?
>>12138850you don't have to see >>12138084>why is going down to the water slower??have you ever tried running in water before?
It's just fun
>>12138850If you want to be a turd it's ackshually just an image on a screen. It's not water though, it's called mack muck or something like that.
>>12138850>Why do sonic games constantly try to add difficultyAwwMariobab needs another reserve item?Another feather coming right up!
>>12138850It's the second zone, Jesus christ it doesn't take that long to get there.
>>12138850just skip the water then, you never have to enter it in that level. although if you mean the one with the blocks that is not as hard as you remember it being as a kid, they give you a lot of time actually. scrap brain zone act 3 otoh is some bullshit without the shortcut, you cut it close so many times
>>12138864>>12138084>>12139704>>12139704>>12139735Cope and seethe furfags. Shitty controls does not equate to difficulty.
>>12138608pedantic? explain this, i have never heard this word used to describe any platformer, much less a mario game (in comparison to sonic??)
>>12139782https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OpbdGnJbneE
>>12137991This is true, but there's some other highlights like Casino Night Zone too
>>12137194It's the routes through the stages and knowing how to access them. In Chemical Plant Act 2 for example, it seems like there is exactly one route through the stage when you first play it as a kid, but there are actually 10+ if you know what you're doing. You're intended to take the first big ramp down at the beginning of the stage, then there's an intended splitting of paths 3 ways. If you're going slow, you take the bottom path and have to play a portion of the level so you can take the one of the ramps going left back down to the side of the level you started on. If you have more speed coming off the ramp, you can fly past the first path up to a second path that skips part of the first path. You then jump into a pipe and the game puts you on one of two paths. But if you come down the first big ramp with the absolute maximum amount of speed, you can skip everything I just mentioned, flying all the way from the bottom of the stage up to where the pipe comes out and completely skipping 1:30 of the stage. All of that is intended. But what if you're REALLY good at Sonic 2? Well after you come out of the pipe or skip it, you go on the ramp that goes down to the left back to the first part of the stage, this unlocks a gate so when you go back right you can proceed to the second half of the stage. But if you're REALLY good, you can jump directly from the very first downramp onto the path you're intended to take when you come back the second time, and skip like 3 minutes of the level. No glitches involved either, just momentum. You can also jump off the corner of the bottom of the ramp to fly up through the floor and land right behind the gate, making it open instantly to skip the same 3 minutes, but this looks like a glitch even if it isn't.Second half of the stage has 3+ ways to avoid raising the water. Good Sonic 2 players never have to touch water. Bad players are playing a completely different game. That's what makes it so fun to replay.
>>12137194It's a great game, but how is it complicated? If they had said difficult, I would agree, but complicated? It's a game where you go from left to right and all the buttons make you jump.
>>12138850sonic games are not difficult. if you think they are, we (i.e. (You)) have some big problems
Do tendies really believe Ocarina is the peak of the medium?
>>12140778>thread that has nothing to do with nintendo>nintendo brought upnintendo derangement syndrome
>>12140817We all know who are the ones always making anti-sega anti-sony anti-microsoft threads.
>>12137194To be fair, you need a really high IQ to appreciate the underlying social commentary in Sonic 2.
>>12140834And who are the people making anti-Nintendo threads like >>12140610
>>12141086snoys probably, but there are way more anti-sega/sony/xbox threads than there are anti-ninty threadsanyway both threads are trash and should be removed, but never happening in post-hack /vr/
How can you claim to to be an 100 IQ adult and get filtered by Chemical Plant and Marble Zone?
>>12139839People who play games just to beat them and delete them from their heckin backlogarino don't give a shit about things like "replay value" or "getting your money's worth," they just want to finish games so they can pretend their half baked assessments have merit. I almost miss the days of having like 1-2 games to last a year, you really learned to appreciate when they did shit like classic sonic level design. Instead they just complain about trivial shit.
