It does kinda suck, but it has a handful of good games that make it worth investigating. Just not nearly as many as the PlayStation or Saturn.

I think there's something to be said about the pretty frequent innovation that was happening on N64 like the 3D analog stick, rumble, and how games like Mario 64, Zelda, Goldeneye and Mario Kart 64 practically invented and set the standard for their respective genres in 3D. N64 games also tended to have larger worlds/levels with impressive draw distance and it's something nobody gives it credit for anymore because people would rather complain about the textures being blurry. Even the 64DD was pretty innovative, too bad it got delayed for so long it never got to be utilized in a meaningful way. If it came out in 97 as intended we would have seen some really cool stuff.Beyond that though I would say it's a matter of taste. N64 games to me have always had a distinct flavor to them, no matter who developed them or what genre they were, something felt, for lack of a better word, unified between them all. If you like games with an emphasis on exploration whether its a platformer, adventure game, or one of the few RPGs, or you like racing games and multiplayer shenanigans, you're gonna have a great time with just about anything on the N64. I've found that even the "shittier" games on the system are worth checking out, there's usually at least something to like in there somewhere beneath all the crap.Idk, I enjoy the Playstation just fine, plenty of games on there I really love, but something about N64 speaks to my soul and I wish people would be less harsh on it and look beyond the first party stuff.

PS1 and N64 had solid games respectively. PS1 was way better for sports games than the N64 but exclusives like OOT and Mario were way above PS1 exclusives like FF7. The current day Xbox/Playstation situation is pathetic to how solid the PS1 and N64 exclusive libraries were.
