what for you are the best home ports of all time?
either official or homebrew it doesnt matter.

games that you thought weren't possible to be brought home that gave you the "holy shit they've done it!" moment
>>
Pretty sure Turtles in Time is the definitive arcade to home console port.

>Doesn't remove things
>Adds things
>Makes the gameplay actually tight

As far as Snes goes, Turtles in Time is the great arcade port. Best performance for a beat'n'up on the console and no extra processing chips on the cartridge.

But since you already said that, I vote for Sonic Wings. Great port also and the music is a surprise banger on Snes. It's worth mentioning Fighter's History as a runner up. A way better fighting game port than Street Fighter II ever was.

Atari ST version
>>
Home ports better than the arcade

Turtle in times is better on SNES
Soul calibur on Dreamcast (with a differente controller, the Dreamcast controller is not good for fighting games )
Tekken tag on PS2
Ninja gaiden nes (completely different game)
Rygar NES (same)
Contra NES

It sure removes some chaos, eyecandy and enemies from the arcade, but you are right about it playing better, combat felt more Capcom than Simpsons which is good. Konami is kinda cheating though, Parodius, Sunset Riders, Gradius III all were great

>>12143329
It also removes a LOT of the voice lines.

That font reminds me of super hang on for sega genesis. It has all of the arcade mode stuff but the music isn’t quite as good as arcade. It also has a complete campaign with vehicle upgrading but it’s not as fun as the arcade because your bike starts out slow for like 15-20 races and doesn’t reach arcade speed until the very end. The endings to the arcade modes are great for pre 1990, there is no ending for original mode. Just thought I’d let you know.

The DOS Korean hack / amateur port of SFII was pretty awesome.
>>
>>12143370
Oh yeah Mercs has a similar "original" mode, slick ports regardless off limitations

oof

>games that you thought weren't possible to be brought home that gave you the "holy shit they've done it!" moment
Never happened. I played arcade games available for arcade type home systems. But I never went "holy shit they've got an arcade game to run perfectly on arcade hardware" There were a handful of ports that weren't absolute garbage but all were clearly not "arcade perfect", as kids would say.

Marble Madness ported to the Amiga was fantastic, and with a trackball was maybe better than the arcade original
>>
>>12143308
>TiT
Good port but obviously a downgrade presentation wise
>Ninja gaiden nes (completely different game)
It's a good Castlevania clone but the arcade has ñ cool stuff too
>Rygar nes
No. It's a nice little action-adventure game but lacks the reckleness of the original
>>
>>12143886
>and with a trackball was maybe better than the arcade original
And with a mouse definitely better. Have a look at some of the speedrunners and whatnot that use a track ball and compare it to what you can do with a mouse.
>>
>>12143952
Yeah but trackballs are fun
>>
>>12143226
>Doesn't remove things
Well I mean, the music got a lot worse, but at least they just composed new tracks instead of hyper-compressing the arcade ones.
>>
>>12143224
SF Alpha 2 on SNES specifically with the fan romhack that fixes the loading issues. It legit might be the best fighting game on the SNES period with that hack.
>>
>>12143314
The Atari 800 had so many quality ports of arcade games released years afterwards. Very impressive machine for its time.

The Saturn ports of Sega Rally and Virtua Fighter 2 after the disastrous port of Daytona USA.
>>
>>12144905
Yes, that's what they're for. I play with mine all the time. Do you not?
>>
>>12144925
Good ports but absolutely not better (significantly worse visually,30 FPS for Sega rally,no racing wheel...)
>>
>>12143430
There is a fastrom patch that removes the slowdown, same for UN Squadron. The SNES port is still missing multiplayer though.

LIAR
where are white ninjas, or 12 ninjas at the same time in screen and 4 player mode?
>>
TMNT Turtles in Time transformed a shit game (the Arcade one) in one of the best beat em ups ever released.
>>
>>12143224

Why did Sega attempt SuperScaler ports on hardware incapable of scaling sprites? More to the point, why was that capability left out of Genesis at a time when many of Sega's biggest arcade hits were SuperScalers?
>>
Gauntlet got the best port on the NES. Instead of a high-score game with endlessly repeating levels, now there's 100 specific levels. In order to reach the final level, you need to git gud enough at the game to be able to build up health(can't just put another quarter in). You also need to find a series of hidden rooms, then complete those rooms to get a password in order to enter the final level. Without the password, you die instantly on reaching level 100. And if you beat level 100, there's an ending.
House of the Dead 2 got a fantastic port on the DC. Adds in an inventory where you can earn items by beating the game or doing various things, and you can use the item when starting a new game that will give you some benefit, like +2 health per life.
Castlevania is far better than Haunted Castle.
Super C is better than Super Contra.
Mike Tyson's Punch Out!! has better controls and more boxers than Punch-Out!!
Bionic Commando on NES is a massive improvement on the arcade original, even with it's flaws.
Double Dragon 2 in the arcade is just a slightly modified reskin of the first game, but it's a new game on the NES with entirely new levels and bosses.

Yeah I get all that but I still would prefer to play the SNES version.

>I get filtered and cope with easy console ports
Ok we got it
>>
>>12147703
>Castlevania is far better than Haunted Castle.
Castlevania is not a port of Haunted Castle. It was released two years earlier, so, if anything, it'd be the other way around.
>>
>>12147287
Because the Saturn was to be the ultimate SuperScaler port machine.
