Is there a way to play GTA games with high framerates without them breaking?
>>
The game logic was made with 30 fps in mind. So either play the diarrhea enhanced edition or don't.
>>
>>12143652

I know SA can be modded to run at 60. You can Google the others yourself.
>>
No, even IV breaks at 60fps. You'll just have to play it at 30. I know, I know, the horror!
>>

>even IV breaks at 60fps.
How? I literally finished it last night and I've been playing at 60 the whole time.
>>
An FPS limiter set to say 30 or 60

oh wait there's also this
https://github.com/Jai-JAP/RPi-GTA-re
I personally had random crashes with vice city but maybe it's more stable with gta3
>>
>>12143918
If I'm playing on a steam deck or something sure. 30 FPS on 4k screen is painful.
>>
>>12143928
Doesn't that final mission break at 60fps? Where you have to pull yourself up from the helicopter?
>>
There's nothing wrong with 30fps zoomer
>>
>>12144150
It werked on my machine. It might have been patched with fusionfix.

Liberty City Stories
I miss it
>>
>>12144295
That's good then.
>>
>>12143918
I haven't played them in a few years but last time I used the Silent Patch and Framerate Vigilante to get a pretty stable experience at 60fps.

There are mods like Fusion Fix that fixes most of the framerate related issues now.

It makes the cop ai extremely non aggressive. Up until GTA5 there is lots of garbage like this. Shitstar doesn't care. Play the original console releases or be prepared to install a whole lot of fan patches to play the game properly.
>>
As far as I know there isn't a way to, which is odd to me since 3 and Vice City(maybe San Andreas too, unsure and too lazy to google) has been entirely reverse engineered and decompiled for quite some time now. You'd think someone would just make a new version from that decomp that works nicely on modern machines and fixes stuff like the framerate bugs, shouldn't be all that hard.

>You'd think someone would just make a new version from that decomp that works nicely on modern machines and fixes stuff like the framerate bugs, shouldn't be all that hard.

The project died, because T2 went apeshit to make space for their demake based on a mobile game. I don't think anyone is going to touch it without being sued into oblivion.
Although the source code is apparently there to build on your own. Just not likely to be developed anymore.
>>
>>12143652
is there a way for midnight club 2 on PC? also breaks when you play it above 30 fps.
>>
>>12144080
Why would frame rate be affected by resolution?
>>
>>12145165
It's less noticeable when you're playing on a small handheld screen or a console where you sit further away from the screen. If you're in a normal distance from a reasonably sized PC screen, it's painful because you clearly see constant stuttering.
>>
>>12145170
A game that is explicitly designed to run at a stable 30fps does not stutter, nor is it "painful". Get over yourself.
>>
>>12145170
>it's painful because you clearly see constant stuttering

It's ok and you suck. You suck so much you are too lazy to use Google to find out how to play GTA 3 at 60fps

bullshit

Vice City is a better III

the fuck kind of retro you playing?
>>
I downloaded definitive edition mods for III, VC and SA. They adviced against playing at 60fps, I did it and I beat all three games twice perfectly fine.
>>
>>12145964
same here. I think I had to turn on the frame limiter for a single mission or 2 that were more difficult on higher FPS but other than that it was perfect
>>
>>12145964

You didn’t beat the game. Someone mentioned that it makes the cops less aggressive

Lotta spoiled kids these days.
>waaah, why isn't every game 120fps?
>waaah, why is this video only 720p?

>>12145170
If a game was designed around 30fps and maintains it steadily, it's not gonna fucking stutter.
Go fucking look at Doom, that's capped at 35fps. Or for that matter Diablo, that game is built around fucking 20fps, and you don't even think about it because of how well it runs and how all animations are made around it.

>>12145303
>>12145394
He's right.
>>
>>12145557
Only anon with big cojones itt
>>
>>12147260
I can't believe DevilutionX doesn't have a 20fps cap as an option. Diablo just looks wrong running at 60. All their other QoL additions are optional too.
>>
>>12147318
>Diablo just looks wrong running at 60
All the animations are still running at 20fps, so I can't tell.
>>
>>12143652
for gta sa use FramerateVigilante and gtasa-precise-fps-limiter, you can go up to 60 or maybe even 72 or 90 or 100, depending on your refresh rate, then use Lossless Scaling to framegen to even higher if needed.
>>
>>12145564
It's semantics, 60 fps is "standard" so therefore not high fps. Now above 60 could be considered high due to it being above the standard of 60, or 50 if you live in PAL.
>>
>muh openslop
>muh fps
holy shit fucking kill yourself and go back to /v/ retard
>>
>>12148519
>wanting to improve games is.... le bad
holy shit fucking kill yourself and go back to /v/ retard
>>
>>12147370
So you're unable to tell the framerate's different just by looking at it? Are you one of those people who are OK with watching 24fps films on a TV that has motion smoothing enabled?
>>
>>12144587
The standard decomp build is already adjusted to 60fps IIRC
>>
>>12149117
I mean, if all the animations are still running at 20fps, why would they look any different if the engine is now running at 60fps?
>>
>>12150179
At a guess because it scrolls smoothly? Mouse cursor updates faster? Hell, even if it still scrolls at 20fps just mouse and input responsiveness being at 60fps would be worth it. I can't go back to the days of 18Hz polling.
>>
>>12146049
>Someone mentioned that it makes the cops less aggressive
More or less. Cop target is set to player x,y,z so they are always trying to get "inside" you which is why they ram instead of cutting you off. Double the sample rate for the delta and they'll slow down more often as they get closer to the target.
>>
>>12150204
I guess the scrolling and mouse cursor would actually be smoother, but my brain doesn't pay that much attention to those aspects, because I'm not really "looking at" the scrolling, or mouse movement, but rather everything else.
>>
>>12143652
GET THAT GUY
>>
>>12150179
>>12150204
The scrolling plays a big part. The whole game just looks way smoother than it's supposed to be. It kinda kills the vibe for me.
>>
>>12150307
I can't say that I've even picked up on it, and I'm someone who has played Diablo a LOT, I've come back to it often ever since it was a still new game, and I've been playing DevilutionX a lot for the past two years.
Maybe it'd be more obvious if you compared the original .exe and DevilutionX side by side, and then I couldn't unsee it anymore.

Anyway, I think that they should provide a locked 20fps option for that reason, give people the choice.
>>
Best you can do is something like framerate vigilante and then injecting framegen on top of that.
