just wondering since im a broke ass faggot who's using an Xbox Series console to play it (via dev mode and an emulator, it's a long story).the game seems to run fine, but i've heard mixed reviews about it online. it's also worth noting that i dont think i can get a keyboard/mouse working with this, which doesn't seem ideal for an FPS. is it bearable? i've never played HL before.>just play it on your PC retardi own it on there but i like consoles, they're cozy.
>>12144241It's really good and has a very good lock on system. It runs at 60fps (drops occasionally, never unplayable) and is the entire game. Also supports mods interestingly so some people have ported things like blueshift but sadly opposing force may not happen because the modder may be dead.
>>12144264Oh yeah there's Decay as well, interestingly you can play this co-op mode single player style and it works pretty well. Interesting.
>>12144264>>12144272ah thanks anon, very cool. i'm not gonna ask for a full guide but would it be possible to install those mods on PCSX2 or something? i do have filesystem access and i could just put them on a USB drive i think. honestly i'm using a really odd setup though so if you have no idea thats fine.
>>12144264>drops occasionallyHave you played past the tram ride? It's constantly going under 20fps lol>>12144241It doesn't have the checkpoints from the PC version nor a chapter select, so you need to quicksave, which isn't actually that quick because there's no hotkey (even with the M+K option)
>>12144241This and half life 2 on the xbox are great.
>>12144294I've beaten it on PS2 several times.
>>12144315>HD models>controller aimingWhy do this to yourself?
>>12144327>Not being able to do bothLow skillers need not apply.
>>12144329You can use whatever sub-optimal retarded controller solution you want on the PC version too. It's just nobody would ever do it since it's retarded.
>>12144337I get it, you can't do it.
>>12144264It doesn't run at 60 fps, what you meant was the fps is uncapped.
>>12144315Your own webm starts off at 30fps with frametime spikes to 50 milliseconds (ie 20fps), and only maintains 60fps inside the tunnel where nothing is happening.
>>12144327>>12144503>seethingNo one cares, NO ONE. I own it on steam and PS2 on disc, and I still emulate it on my Series X just like OP and if you overclock PCSX2, you can keep it at 60fps.
>>12144315How much does a copy costs nowadays? I should have bought it when I had a chance but everything was Black at that time.
>>12145045If you're using homebrew on a Series X, why aren't you just using Xash3D? That'll let you play mods and will give you actual controller support instead of Metroid Prime lock-on.
>>12144241If it's a Series X why not just play the 360 Orange Box version which is backwards compatible? You'd need a disc copy though because it's been removed from the store so if you've got a Series S you'd be shit out of luck.
>>12145506Orange Box is Half life 2. OP is playing the first Half Life
>>12144327NTA but i like the HD weapons better and the OG NPC models look out of place next to the expansions NPCs imo.
>>12145460It's better than metroid prime lock on. Metroid Prime stole it from HL1 PS2 and made it worse.
>>12145610MP lock on is just z-targeting. The loosey goosey soft lock on from HL1's PS2 port is ass.
>>12144241Not bad at all for the standards of the time. It's mostly a curiosity at this point. That being said, is there not a Xash3D port for Series X/S? That seems odd.
>>12146097Virtual On Targeting is different from how Prime functions, which is like Half-Life but without the ability to do vertical adjustments for hitting weak points. It's a great mechanic in HL1 turned into mediocrity for Primetards.
>>12144241I didn't touch the single-player, but a buddy and I went through the coop campaign. Aiming is fine on a gamepad but kb+m is always ideal, the framerate seemed to be fine or at least I don't remember anything egregious happening. All that being said thr coop campaign was enjoyable up until the very last level, that shit is impossible. You just have a huge open area and you're fending off hordes of vortigaunt and grunts waiting for this clock to run. After like 15 minutes the boss spawns and it's some flying alien that gives you limited windows to nail with the rocket launcher. Between preserving ammo and health and the rocket launcher lock on that will occasionally whiff, it was hell. Half-Life Decay dropped from like a 7/10 to a 3/10.
>>12144241The Half-Life PS2 port is fantastic. It also emulates perfectly on PC, and every function in game can be bound to any button on the controller which means that you can get it running via emulation with any USB controller you want, even an xbox controller, and you can remap the functions in game to work with it. The PS2 version of Half-Life is also the most advanced version of the Gold Source engine and NPC's have both facial features like moving eyes and hands with five individual fingers, both details that the PC version never had. Not to mention that many environmental models like wall health dispensers have been significantly upgraded.Have some PS2 Half-Life uplink btw:https://www.moddb.com/mods/half-life-uplink-playstation-2-mod/downloads/ps2-mod-half-life-uplink-beta-release
>>12144241Its extemely good thoroughly recommended it only versions I own are big box PC and PS2 and non retro orangebox but the PS2 port is excellent
How do we stop the hl2 schizo?
It shines in its coop part
>>12144241It's a neat oddity piece. It's performance isn't reliable but it's playable and it's cool to play a genuinely good game in such a strange form on PS2. Also see Deus Ex PS2.
Can someone tell the subhuman in the other thread to stop bumping his butthurt thread about Half Life 2?
>>12150891hl1 sux
>>12150894I like both, just want the schizo to stop making threads and samefag
>>12150905halo threads have ran thin now so get ready for a month of half-life 2 threads
>>12150907Halo fags are the ones seething over HL2 tho
>>12150910obsessed
>>12150913It's true, look at that thread
>>12144329>>12144340Do you play it with autoaim off?
