>console with final fantasy 4 thru 6, terranigma, illusion of gaia, soulblazer, chrono trigger, earthbound, secret of mana, brain lord, super mario rpg, breath of fire 1 and 2, robotrek and many more>pic related still managed to be the best RPG on the consoleHow does it do it?
>>12144878i still haven't played it yet lol
It simply does not insist upon itself.
>>12144878because it gives you actual gameplay outside of the generic rpg battles. lufia 2's dungeons put zelda dungeons to shame.
I hate that those fake covers spread like a wildfire, they insist on using those fake KA ESRB icon.
>>12144878I just leave this here.
>>12145182>playing snes games on a flatscreen
It's a great game but the random ass palette swap emenies and random mob bosses thrown at you are dragging it down. Combat is a little simplistic when 80 percent of enemies go down to regular attacks and some fast guys throw random curveballs. The rapid fire towns in the midst of random drama or sinistral attack feels down right silly. Great dialogue tho. Feels like "deep" episodic nonsense like Don Quixote.>>12145182That's a good puzzle
>>12145039Unrivaled dungeon design to this day
>>12145182the tutorial dungeon teaches you how to use the pivot function. its also in the instruction booklet.
>>12145853we had the very same discussion several times now. yes you learn it in the dungeon but the tutorial dungeon and the puzzle are hours apart and in that time you never required this mechanic a single time.
>>12145808Even though it’s not super well translated, I think the dialogue does a good job showcasing the camaraderie between the characters. They feel like real people. I also like the realistic ending to the love triangle.
>>12145858>Maxim leaves her childhood friend who loves him unconditionally for a woman that he literally just met during his travel for less than a monthHow is that realistic?
>>12145984It’s extremely realistic. It’s immediately obvious that Tia’s loyal puppy dog routine doesn’t do a whole lot for Maxim. Selan, being a hot warrior woman is much more fitting for Maxim. Tia immediately picks up on this. She doesn’t betray the party in a fit of jealousy, she doesn’t sacrifice herself for her true love, she just…leaves. It feels very mature and restrained for a genre that’s normally overly melodramatic.
>>12145984Marrying your childhood friend is pretty rare.
>>12145992>>12145995That's one way to see it. My biggest crush who was giving me mixed signals for some years kinda rejected me definitely and I just feel like killing and secluding myself until I just forget about it. It's amazing how the childhood friend with the bigger crush took it better than me.I'm super bad with rejection.I dunno, I see Tia and I'd pick her up any day.
>>12146000Yes except that Maxim is a chad
>>12144878im still finishing lufia 1. insane good ost.
>>12144878everyone knows you havent played all the games you listed considering you make a lufia thread every week on this board and you mention how you replay it every month.
>>12145813Golden Sun outdoes it.
>>12146723I think you've got the wrong anon. I'm on /vr/ like once or twice a month
this game is so underrated and overlooked, its criminal.
>>12149531Outside of /vr/ anyway, yeah. It's one of those games that everyone who's like super into either the SNES library or the JRPG genre has at least heard of but few have actually played
You know a game is shit when someone can't praise it without comparing it to more popular games.
>>12145984>what is strange pussy
I didn't even have an SNES (I was born in '95 and got an N64 in 2001). My sister's boyfriend shared a CD-ROM with us full of SNES ROMs, along with ZSNES and Snes9x for Windows 98. It had Lufia and Lufia II. I don't even know why, but I tried Lufia II first, and I loved it. I played Illusion of Gaia, EarthBound, Final Fantasy IV, Terranigma... but I can't remember that much about them, but sure I can about Lufia II: Rise of the Sinistrals. Most SNES RPGs have a problem with grinding and no depth outside combat. Lufia is two games in one: it's an RPG and a puzzle game, and its world feels real by how the characters interact with each other and develop according to what's happening in their lives.I know most of you would say Chrono Trigger is the best because it has Sakaguchi, Kato, and Toriyama, but it has the same "soul" as those "superbands" like Audioslave or Them Crooked Vultures. It's a great RPG, but not the greatest. Lufia II does it marvelously in every aspect: gameplay, storytelling, mechanics, combat, lore... I mean, it's an RPG with replay value (Ancient Cave) and the best ending, because you want to know what happens next, and the game tells you the previous game is the sequel.Lufia II is like a great book worth revisiting once in a while.
I was pissed when the game forced me to marry that whore selan
