You will never go back and experience early MMOs which were primarily 99% white in the late 90s and early 2000s.
>>12145214>not even the original UISTFU noob
>>12145219>running back to Qeynos from Blackburrow >black bear smells your blood>run into shopkeepers hut for solace >bear runs right through the wall and mauls your ass I wish there was good place to play. P99 is dead.Quarm is way too custom.TLPs are P2W and die after a month. At this point I'm just waiting for Monsters & Memories.
>>12145254P99 is dead? Don’t they average over 800 players a weekend on green? I didn’t bother playing much, most people are max level or leveling twinkled out alts.
>>12145254>>12145270The most fun I had was right when p99 launched and I was unemployed. Kaladin had dozens of groups right outside the city. Everyone helping each other get their scarab gear quests done. So many groups at every level range. Finding new camps to level because you had to be creative with how many groups were on.
Playing old mmos again feels bad unless you already knew them back then, most people know almost everything about the ancient game and you are left out like the noobie retard you are to rot
>>12145214Good. White nerds are fucking annoying.
>>12145364Which is why I’m taking about playing them decades ago without turdies and brown people. People used to go out of their way to help others.
>>12145214You can tell with how painfully ufnfunny those communities were.
>>12147882I can tell you're not old enough to have memories of this because that was just not how it was, this is some racist fantasy you've concocted in your head of a past that never existed. Those communities were ego fueled nightmares.
>>12145214>99% whiteSorry, I don't argue with racists/sexists pieces of shit.
>>12147920>Those communities were ego fueled nightmares. This isn’t Ultima. Eq is pve only.
>>12145364I disagree. I played EQ for the first time ever a few years ago using P99 and fell in love. Other players skill level never really affects you in PvE MMOs.You'll also find that 50% of the people left playing them are literal boomers who click everything reaction speed of a turtle. As long as you're somewhat competent you can become "good" at al old school MMO relatively quickly.
>>12148039A lot of the skill in these old games is preparation. Knowing how to deal with something before you do it. Screwing up is extremely punishing. It’s slow and methodical over being reactive.
>>12145214There is already thousands of games to play. I'm not gonna fret over a couple of MMOs.
>>12145214Why did you make it a racist thing? If you were actually alive you would know that MMOs had people from all countries and backgrounds. Only a zoomer could see this golden age and make it about modern identity politics based on some vague sense of whiteness.
>>12145214Aside for LAN multiplayer, couch co-op and direct link was always shit and did very little for gaming. For a decade we thought 'This will be great, let's make that happen' and it was shit and opened up cheating, maco scamming, and hierarchism. Always a disappointing experience and it lead to lack of ownership and subsciption cancer. It was never good.
>>12148138In fairness no European wants to deal with brown people when they are getting some recreation, in person on the internet. That's not racism, it's just reality. Multiplayer wide area network shit was always shit and always will be. Further its browns that seek out contact with Europeans on the internet and IRL. See this site, they could have made their own brown equivalents but noe noe...must swarm the US or EU or GB internet and spout shit at people who really really don't care or want to know anymore.
>>12145214>99% white in the late 90s and early 2000s.BR?BR?u gib monies?i repot uhuehuehue
>>12148168Why are you still going on about some weird racist shit? The fuck does this thread have to do with europeans? Europoors didn't even have internet until the 2010s
>>12145214Second Life (which falls under /vr/ by the way!) is "primarily 99% white" right now judging by the videos I've seen of old people being harassed by trolls in that game. Same with VRChat, but at this point you'll move the goal post and demand that the playerbase is primarily 99% straight. Why do you waste your turn on the village computer by making these threads?
>>12148168What was the most popular mmo in Europe back then? Tibia? Oh yeah, it was filled with swedens, brazilians and chinese players, you would know if you were there.
>>12145214Why? Why make a thread whose only apparent purpose is to spread bitterness about the present? You could've just made it about cool memories of your time with the games. Are you that consumed by anger and hatred?
I'm a Toontowner yes I am
>>12147992So was like 90% of the UO playerbase and that's why a lot of private servers don't "work" because you have every other player trying to win the world's biggest asshole competition.
>>12148168Non-whites use american sites cus english is the world's language so you'll have a bigger pool of people to discuss games withAs a brazilian I can tell you we had plenty of forums to discuss games in the early 2000s, some with cultures kinda similar to 4chan (was called Vale Tudo or something)Orkut was basically majority brazilian at some point and there was plenty of gaming discussion there tooSetting aside race for a moment, I assume there's plenty of European people who post on 4chan cus their countries are too small = less people to discuss stuff with. Should greeks only be allowed to talk video games with the other 10 million greeks online? One thing I'll agree with you is that brazilian guilds in PvP MMOs can be assholes, but these games are already toxic as hell anyways so saying brazilians are worse isn't a big deal imoAnd a big part of that is the language barrier anyway, they join a new MMO through their friends/forums and immediately have a "us vs them" mentality going on.People who play these games always brag how they're "hardcore PvPers" though, so instead of complaining they should be happy they have a big villain to PvP against, just pretend you're fighting orcs instead of brazilians
>>12145214I miss the lack of racism much more than I miss early MMOs
Ultima was my favourite. I remember hunting for hides in dangerous wilderness and then selling them to my usual customers! We would chat on ICQ. Glorious.
Does Neopets count as a old school MMO? I enjoying playing fan servers that act like the old versions of Neopets.
>>12148373He just doesn't like you Hindu boys I guess!
>>12145214>99% white in the late 90s and early 2000s.Bull.
>>12145214It's your lot who are the most insufferable reddit niggers against civil society in every MMO I find desu
>>12145214too bad that MMOs were still shitty at that time and only started gaining popularity when they became a worldwide phenomenon.
>>12145214I played MMOs back then. Played one that had people from all over the world playing. Most of the older players hated the kids who played even from their own country for being dumbasses. Plenty of white people who played them acted like retarded assholes too. MMOs attract people who go on weird powertrips and have issues.I still try to play them once in a while but they're generally so shit. Game is designed to just waste so much of your time and what they have you doing isn't really that fun. Private servers used to skip the timewasting stuff more often but even now they're just as grindy as official and people end up paying them to skip the grind.
>>12145214>primarily 99% white in the late 90s and early 2000s.No, it wasn't. You know what's wild? I think the death of the old kind of nerd/geek and the constant attacks on lone young male has given schizophrenia to zoomers. There seems to be bizarre idea in their heads that esoteric geek stuff was wildly popular with the jocks and that they would be part of that imagined group. We're never going to be able to talk about old games without it being filtered through an culture war that didn't even exist at the time.
>>12145214MUDs for retards
/pizza
>>12145254Nostalgia is the death of the soul, but motherfucker how badly I want to escape what gaming’s become in 2025 and go back to this imageOf a doorA fucking door
>>12150649Unfortunately, you can never go back. Fortunately, you don't have to.I'm sure you've heard this 100 times, but if you haven't checked out Monsters & Memories yet and miss Classic EQ, I highly recommend doing so.It's essentially a sequel to Classic EQ made by a few of the OG devs, and keeps all of the core gameplay design. It has gained a lot of popularity recently due to how many people hate where the genre has gone. Currently open for testing and is launching in January (I think). Picrel. Ignore my messy UI, I'm in the middle of setting this toon up.
>>12147920brown hands typed this.
>>12147921>>12147920>>12148138Thirdie meltdown, no we don’t want you turning games into an online favela>>12148520No one cares about your blubbering, Brazilians are the jeets of the MMO space>>12150494ESL gibberish
>>12150673This soundtrack is great. I've only played a couple hours total and the starting cities music is gonna be stuck in my head for weeks.
>>12150864Old MMOs were great without zoomers like this who can't stop obsessing about identity politics.
>>12150985This. 99% of the time I never even knew I was talking to someone from another region until the group got to talking about where everyone was from. Even today if you play on something like P99 or Ultima Outlands - the topic of race rarely pops up. Old MMOs, and even nu-old MMOs like >>12150673, are still a fun experience compared to the majority of multiplayer games out there. I think it's the slow pace that filters the most of these spergs.
>>12150998>99% of the time I never even knew I was talking to someone from another region until the group got to talking about where everyone was fromThis is true. The only reason race ever came up was because of someone talking in a unique way. With Malaysians, they'd usually end with "la" and Brazilians were notorious back in the day because they'd go "huehue" otherwise you wouldn't think anything of it. You'd identify them by their avatar and that's usually where it stopped. Sometimes you'd guess based on how they typed, someone using a lot of ^^ I just assumed was Asian.
White people have never played MMO
>>12148187Vr chat is literally nothing but Mexicans and blacks
>>12145214Were they also primarily fat? Or did that not happen until WoW?
>>12151335Definitely fatter in general but everyone being obese wasn't until WoW
>>12151335Is the idea of a nerd that fucking foreign to a zoomer? Do zoomers not get bullied in school? Do zoomers not have escapism?
>>12151351The nerds I know are girls who play Fallout: New Vegas and such
>>12151351Zoomers are all fat so the idea that nerds were the fats before is bizarre to them. None of them exercise now.
>>12151351>>12151363...But nerds were overwhelmingly scrawny pre-2000. It was so common for nerds to be skinny that the scrawny nerd became a trope in like every movie from the 70s through the 90s. Are you sure you guys were actually around to remember the 80s/90s? Because the "fat gamer" didn't really come around until around the year 00.
>>12151679Just look at pictures of any Quake LAN in 97 vs any Halo LAN in 2007. It's literally skinny vs fat.
>>12151679>>12151683>there was no such thing as a fat nerd before 2000>i know because I've never seen a fat nerd in my dad's collection of vhs tapesThe computer guy from jurassic is a fat nerd, the nutty professor is a fat nerd, the fucking comic book guy is a fat nerd (geek if you want to get technical). Jesus H Christ, if you've ever been in a wargames shops, comic book store or any videogame shop before geek got invaded, they were filled with misshapen dudes including fat and skinny nerds.
>>12151818I never said there was no such thing as fat nerds. This is the comment we're discussing, in case you forgot.>Were they also primarily fat? Or did that not happen until WoW?We weren't PRIMARILY fat until around then. It was more like ~30% fat, compared to the 90% fat of today.
>>12145214SW Galaxies and EVE Online I always wanted to play back then but never got toThe first doesn't exist anymore(outside private servers) and EVE Online has changed so much since the original version back then
>>12151827>We weren't PRIMARILY fat until around thenSays who? The numbers pulled out of your arse?
>>12151827>>12151956*Most of the nerds back then were fat or skinny. The fats used to go out less. I guess zoomer nerds just troon out or become an alt-right reactionary. Or both.
