Why didn't they just give a decent port of the arcade game to the consoles?

The 8 and 16 bit era were so full of shit. It was an easy slam dunk.
>>
>>12146259
Probably because Acclaim owned the console rights and didn’t want to pay Konami for a port.
The console games are definitely very flawed, even pretty bad but I owned a few of them and they have some creative ideas at least and I could force myself to have fun with them.

These don't exist anon.
They never did, in the history of mankind.
>>

Thr arcade game's cool for its art and early Simpsons vibes, but the game is a generic token taker beatemup with like 2 minigames. This weekend actually I played a cabinet set f2p and powered through the whole thing. I wanna see someone get through the Channel 6 level or the Smithers/Burns boss with no continues.

Contra on NES is just an objectively better game than the arcade Contra
Parodius on Saturn has almost zero slowdown compared to the arcade
Battle Garegga on Saturn has like a frame less input lag and also has bullet visibility options and a way to not have to input the Konami code every time you want to play as the secret characters

The NES version is a watered down demake of the arcade. Only people who had the NES version as a kid think it's an acceptable port.

Bart vs the World sucks less then Vs the Space Mutants, Beanstalk, Wrestling and Treehouse of Horror

The Dreamcast port of SoulCalibur is superior to the arcade original in every way
>>
>>12146830
Arcade games intentionally made on weaker hardware to make the ports look more impressive don’t count.

Basically this. It's not a bad game but it's nothing crazy on it's own. To really enjoy it you need to play it during peak Simpsons mania during the 90s, or still be excited about the Simpsons in 2025

Or be Mexican/Brazilian

Why is it still popular in Latin America? Everyone else stopped caring about the Simpsons 15 years ago

Road Rage is better than Hit & Run. Both are essentially just driving missions but Road Rageès missions are a lot funner. Also no horrible missions like having to run Smithers off the road or the toxic waste bullshit.
>>
Konami got arcade and computer rights, Akklaim got all the console rights.
All people could do was just accept the alright DOS and Commodore versions until MAME could run it.
>>
>>12146893
Mexicans have much lower standards then what you think, they were interested more in the OG voices + Bart n2 returning as tired and old as they are know after 2 decades of the FOX mandated replacement voice cast.

Even if the show was woke as fuck with disturbing Gory family guy flare.

There was no need for a Simpsons arcade port. We got Bart & the Beanstock and that was enough.

Bart's Nightmare is a pretty decent game if you take it as a game where you have to know the tricks to win
Virtual Bart is ridiculous, however

i'll defend Bart's Nightmare on ideas alone, it's the most creative of that era for sure.

You've never played the arcade. SNES is a downgrade in every possible way.

But it's still passable. Konami could have absolutely made a good port of The Simpsons to the SNES, probably would've even added some content to it.
>>
>>12149723
Only if you care about presentation, and even then those are pure nitpicks, but the arcade one doesn't play that good, specially when the game decides to choose your target while surrounded.

>>

>You've never played the arcade. SNES is a downgrade in every possible way.
Hits feel better, double tap running, executable throws, special has its own button, extra stage, 4 new bosses (Rat King, Shredder tank, Slash(replacing Mukman) and Pirate Beebop and Rocksteady) and bosses in general have better move sets. There is also the Mode 7 effects of Neon Night Riders but I am neutral on that.
>Only if you care about presentation, and even then those are pure nitpicks
Missing 4 player is not presentation and neither is the on-screen enemy count. SNES is limited to 4 foot soldiers and 6-7 enemies so long as most of those enemies are small like Mousers or Annihilators which is impressive for SNES since most other beat em ups are limited to 3 enemies which is trash. The arcade version on the other hand handles about 10 foot soldiers at once which is a massive difference.

Overall I think I like the SNES version a tiny bit better, I really miss the voice clips though and it would be nice if they could squeeze a couple more Foot on screen. Shame there is no PS1 / Saturn version that makes all the extra content and positive combat changes the SNES makes while keeping the slightly better graphics, the missing voice lines and high enemy count of the arcade.

If a Simpsons SNES game was made with the same level of effort as the Turtles in Time game, better controls, 4 enemies, extra content, I think it would be one of the all time greats.

I would believe you with the Capcom ones if you mentioned the Capcom Generations series, which were very good conversions. The Midway ones are pretty mid-tier, specially 2 and 3 with the inaccurate speed (and Primal Rage triggering the copy protection). Still, DE compilations were far from perfect.
