The only cringe miyamoto story I remember was when that bullied kid YouTuber brought him along to sit there and watch him play Mario while some dude off camera occasionally asked him questions. I can’t remember who that was and maybe it’s for the best, because if it weren’t for that persona 5 hit piece in kotaku, it might have been the most unprofessional moment in gaming ever.

Miyamoto probably did spend some of his childhood in rural areas and that's part of what attracted him to the same idea in other games but it wasn't that experience alone that led to the design of Zelda.
