The anti-Quake.
>>12181227Playing through the campaign on Black Ops is fine if you can't get the original to work, but it is NOT the same thing. There are noticeable differences in lighting, scale, textures, and map design. Also, Dam and Ship are glitched in the Black Ops version. You can easily fall through the stairs on Dam, and get stuck on the stairs in Ship.
>>12181227Counter Strike was the OG anti Quake
>>12181314Rainbow Six predated Counter Strike, which was in turn, also partly inspired by Rainbow Six.
>>12181227I find it particularly fascinating that a completely unique stand-alone expansion for Rogue Spear released in South Korea. Apparently there's even a niche subculture in South Korea surrounding the game/genre.https://m.blog.naver.com/eeuu1133/221513289491
>>12181227The white man's shooter series.
>>12181227It felt so realistic at the time
>>12181314counter-strike had bhopping and high jumping accuracy until 1.4
>>12183507Still is.
>>12183518Nowadays I'm more of a swat 4 player though
Remember that shitty PS1 exclusive game with just 5 missions and no squad that came out in 2002?
played the first game recently and had fun but rogue spear kicked my ass too hard
>>12183540Yep, awful game. It might actually be fun to speedrun since you can beat the game in under 30 minutes if you know what you're doing.
>>12181227The oldest entry on Steam is RS3 Gold. Still good?
>>12183963RS3? Yea.
>>12181227>anti-Quakeso it's boring?these nerds and their barbie plan-em-ups i swear to god bro lmao
>>12181227Are there any actual rainbows in this game or is the title a deceptive lie?
>>12184069Hey Romero. Did you make anyone your bitch yet?
>>12181227There's a sale on GOG for 2.50 in case anyone's thinking about getting it.
the first one i played is the one with the vent crawling cutscene and someone was looking at ass
>>12184219Does it run on modern systems or do you need mods?
>>12183495>>12183507That title was the real deal late 90s early 00s, with the expansion and the sequels it was a blast. The mod community kept it alive with great maps.
>>12181310I’m glad someone else criticises Black Ops. It’s a great labour of love but R6 isn’t the same at all and the intro/outdo videos are all missing. Sure, a bit autistic of me but it’s a bother.>>12183518I can’t believe people keep posting my webms; it’s very flattering. I really should make more.>>12184219>>12184360I’ve had GoG’s version work/not work randomly several times on the exact same machine so it’s odd. DgVoodoo works mostly and with the CRT filter it looks nice but make sure the transparency is working (the railings in the first level will let you know). If the hostage on the bottom floor isn’t there in Veteran mode then you need a fix which I can upload. I fucking love Rainbow Six, man.
>>12184421Well there aren't that many to begin with.

>>12184061Cool, thank you!
>>12185627There is a third person mode you can use, but it's completely unplayable unless you turn auto-aim on.
>>12185648People actually play this without auto aim?
>>12185687Well you can't play with it on Elite anyway, so...

>>12184421Ok I might just work my way through the game and make WEBMs if there's an interest since people keep reposting my Rogue Spear ones.>>12185648>>12185627It's a game I leave autoaim on enabled because the bad guys pretty much have it by default. The thrill is in the planning anyway. Here's Mission 1 from the original Rainbow Six. Not the best run as I lose a guy but I'm trying out the webm creator etc.
>Operation: Steel WindLooks like we've got our first real job. The Brits would love to send in the SAS but the word from Brussels is "no way", and London says the same about the Belgian ESI. I don't have to tell you that we're going under the microscope on this one. There're folks on both sides of the Atlantic who still aren't convinced that there's any need for a group like RAINBOW. Take your time and study the situation carefully before you light the fuse. If we blow it the first time out, they may just shut us down. https://files.catbox.moe/io3mo0.mp4
>Operation: Cold ThunderHutu Rebels have captured a research outpost in Congo run by the Horizon Corporation. Your mission is to rescue the American and European scientists without alerting the main body of the rebel force to your presence.
John Clark: You made quite an impression on the Belgians during that embassy takedown - they're insisting that we handle this situation in the Congo. Horizon is the darling of the biotech industry - wildly profitable, with a strong activist streak. I'll let their CEO, John Brightling, fill you in on their activities in Africa. The bottom line for us is that the leader of their research team is a VIP named Catherine Winston. High-ranking friends at NIH, WHO, dinners at the white house - you get the idea. It's absolutely essential that if you get anyone out that it's her.John Brightling: We're not in the Congo to turn a profit. We're there at the request of the World Health Organization to see if we can come up with a cure for the epidemic that's been decimating West Africa's cattle population. You have to understand: Horizon doesnt exist to make money. Horizon exists to make a better future. If people think we're crazy, well, that's their problem.
>>12187602Depends on which one you're talking about...Seeing as this is a Rainbow Six thread, I'd say, just learn the basics of switching between agents and you're set. 90% of the codes and orders you use in the game are directed at controlling orders you already set in the planning stage.Me, personally, I just load up the default plans that come with the missions, or I just run them improvised. I should note, if you die or fail a mission, that's to be expected. It can take you dozens of tries to run a mission before you run it without losing a single guy.I like to run it with auto-aim off because I feel like playing it with auto-aim on makes the missions go too quick, and you're more careful and slower paced with the auto-aim off. Playing with auto-aim is also basically "training wheels mode", since the game becomes a lot more run and gun, enemies drop a lot faster since it auto-targets their heads and you're less likely to get limb shots and body shots where they're wearing armor, and you don't have to worry about blind spots and nooks as much since your guy should automatically find any bad guys on screen. If a mission takes 1 or 2 minutes to do normally on Rainbow Six, it should take 4 or 5 with auto aim off, unless you're a god, which dramatically increases the tension. I recommend auto-aim on only if you're new.
>>12185467Dreamcast is the only good port of it. Dreamcast had the best ports of PC games, for some reason.
>>12188170To be fair, your team mates have auto aim too so unless you’re going lone wolf it’s not a major deal. Fair fucks to you for the challenge though; Elite difficulty doesn’t fuck around.
>>12184061Thats my webm
>>12188221You can turn auto aim off on lower difficulties by pressing F2 I think.
>>12187602I would recommend playing the og ghost recon instead cuz you can quick saves at anytime during a mission in case you got one-shotted.
>>12183531Lots of great memories with Swat 3
>>12187602Go buy Swat 3. First few missions are pretty easy to get the hang of it.
Any of the ps2 rainbow games worth it if already have vegas on the xbox?
>>12189501I'd recommend getting Vegas 1 and 2 on STEAM before they get taken down, first of all. Secondly, not really. Xbox has the good Rainbow Six ports.
>>12189779>I'd recommend getting Vegas 1 and 2 on STEAM before they get taken downHoly shot you're right, thanks for the reminder.
