Which fpga console will you be buying?

Does either one play Knife Edge?
>>
>>12185070
>Knife Edge
they should both be able to play it
>>
Did Analogue 3D do something today? I'm seeing reviews for it popping up everywhere today
>>
>>12185046
By the time M64 comes out the 3D will probably be permanently out of stock, so I don't think there's much competition for customers there.
>>
>>12185075
Review embargo ended.
Apparently they sent out review units 2 weeks ago. My Life in Gaming had a pretty good review/breakdown that was critical about a handful of choices Analogue made but generally enjoyed the device.
>>
>>12185075
The shills are out in force too. MVG had some complaints about it and there are people getting upset at him in the comments because he didn't say that Analogue will almost certainly (probably) fix anything that doesn't work with firmware updates. Because you shouldn't expect a device that's been delayed a million times to work with obscure devices like an Everdrive day one, obviously.
>>
>>12185096
>Everdrive
>obscure
Retard.
>>
>>12185135
Nta, but you're projecting.
>>
>>12185046
Analogue 3D since the M64 probably won't have overlock features
>>
>>12185189
It's exremely likely that it will, the N64 MiSTer core developer works for ModRetro and he managed to develop a turbo core on much less capable hardware than the M64 will have.
>>
>>12185070
How have I never heard of this? Is it any good?
>>
Analogue 3D can't even play games at the correct speed, after all of these delays. Complete fucking joke how are you going to try to sell me a product based on "accuracy" when it can't even get the fucking framerate right?
>>
>>12185135
Saar you are English very nice!

>>12185592
They're not targeting autists who care about accuracy, because those people already own a HDMI-modded original console. They're targeting people (Redditors) who want a "premium" product in a fancy case which will suffer from artificial scarcity, so that they can be part of a special club. Most of these things will be played a handful of times before being put on the shelf next to the Funko Pops forever.
>>
>>12185580
It's like a really bad panzer dragoon game.
>>
>>12185592
>Analogue 3D can't even play games at the correct speed
really? Which ones?
I hear it defaults to overclock settings on so that mgiht be why
>>
>>12185046
MiSTer, preferably a cheap clone like the Pi or QMTech boards.
>>
>>12185046
why would I want to play N64 games
>>

ESLs go home.

What's the point of the Analogue cuckbox if it doesn't do analog video out? WTF???
MiSTer chads WIN yet AGAIN
>>
>>12185896
Every game runs at the wrong speed because they insist outputting at exactly 60hz instead of the original refresh rate. They did the same thing with the Super NT and other consoles too, they say it's for hdtv compatability purposes lol.

I have a n64 what am i missing

That's the correct answer, it's able to run a demo that the Analogue 3D can't. (Bizarrely, the Analogue 3D can run the demos that Ares can't at the time of writing.)
>>
Here's another Analogue 3D edge case. It may-or-may-not be related to an issue the MiSTer's N64 core has.
>>
>>12186149
Not that bizarre. Odds are their FPGA systems aren't 100% right just yet either, if it ever does, and what it does manage is different from Ares for obvious reasons. You will probably never have a 100% accurate emulator short of the creators of machines recreating them 1:1 themselves, they'll always have certain discrepancies.
>>
Neither, I own an N64 already.
>>
>>12185046
Probably Analog 3d since mod retro just takes a mister core and puts it in a shell while Analog creates some of their own software.

>>12185089
The overclocked stuff looked good, not so fast that it breaks everything but fast enough to remove some stutters.

>>12186184
No analog out. I think they could add rgb at least but they think people don't care about it.
>>
>>12185046
is there any reason to buy this if i already have an N64 with SummerCart64 and a converter/upscaler?
>>
>>12185616
>>12185949
How is this a jeetism whatsoever? Anon was pointing out that referring to an Everdrive as "obscure" is retarded, which it is. It's the most recognizable brand of flashcart, no one was getting their words mixed up or misunderstanding what the word "obscure" meant. Are you two actually the jeets/spics here?
>>
>>12186428
Unless you want to overclock games, no.
>>
>>12186060
>they say it's for hdtv compatability purposes lol
The speed change IS for the benefit of modern screen compatibility. CRTs can run at any old oddball refresh rate they like, but unless your modern TV supports some form of VRR, you're stuck outputting at a limited number fixed refresh rates like 60hz, 50hz, 120hz etc. And when you run a console like the NES, SNES, MD, N64 etc that has a refresh rate either slightly above or below 60hz on a modern fixed refresh rate, it's going to result in judder because of that mismatch. Software emulators typically just keep that judder, or they make the tiny speed adjustment to make it a perfect 60hz. In Retroarch and Mister FPGA, you have more options with how to deal with this mismatch, usually with the help of VRR. I agree that Analogue should have included an original refresh rate mode for those with VRR screens, but they didn't just change the hz for no reason or because of incompetency.

I don't even fucking own a single Analogue system, I just hate to see retarded faggots like yourself spouting complete nonsense about shit you don't have a clue about.
>>
Is there a flashcart that just lets me plug in a SATA or USB directly? I don't fucking own a microsd
>>
>>12186485
It's called sarcasm you smelly jeet
>>
>>12186517
>I was only pretending to be retarded
Yeah uh huh.
>>
>>12186485
You're either a jeet or a literal retard if you thought that post was actually suggesting the Everdrive was obscure. Those are your two options, so pick one.
>>
>>12186586
Good morning saar I believe you are the one to misunderstanding!
>>
>>12185580
its rancid dogshit
>>
>>12186485
NTA, but MVG pointed out that SummerCarts work on Analogue 3D. Which, in all honesty, are the better option anyway.
>>
>Hey Sheldon, what are you doing?
>I'm playing Mario 64 on a poorly coded FGPA console
[laughtracks]

I'll stick to poorly coded N64 emulators thank you very much, it has a nicer ring to it.
>>
>>12185072
Only with hacks.
>>
>>12186498
so.... its trash then.
>>
Gamesacks review is great
>>
>>12187487
It could've been so much better, though. Shaun brought up a good point about reviewers being sent their Analogue 3Ds before anybody else, yet it got handwaved.
>>
>>12187730
Don't be stupid
>>
>>12187752
Not as stupid as review embargos.
>>
>>12186007
It doesn't even have composite video?
What's the point of that? Do they have a version that does analog video?
>>
>>12185046
Waiting to see the Modretro, if it's actually analogue out and the controller is good, I might check it out
>>
>>12187730
Sending reviewers early hardware is a tiny slither of the total produced units, and is generally considered good form anyway. People have a right to be upset about the delays, and frankly I don't think the firmware in its current state could be considered complete, but complaining about review units is fucking stupid.
>>
>>12189424
>complaining about review units is fucking stupid.
That's fair, considering all the review units so far don't even have all the features that are on Analogue's site yet.
>>
>>12185046
None. I have a real N64 and a computer produced within the last 20 years.
