Why is it so boring and dry and slow-paced? Why didn't they actually make interesting and unique NPCs and fun quests with player agency instead of just flooding the game with huge empty landscapes, copy-pasted interiors, and generic NPCs that are basically walking glossaries, regurgitating the same drivel verbatim as dozens of other NPCs in the game?

Also the journal system in vanilla/XboxGotY version is absolutely fucking abysmal. You basically have to write your own notes because good luck flipping through hundreds of pages to find information about a quest just to find your character didn't even write down the relevant information about where to go or what you need to do. No way to view active quests, no way to view completed quests, no way to remove/archive journal entries.

No one is filtered retards, it's one of the easiest RPGs in existence beyond the confusion of the first hour where your character is a complete useless retard who can't even hit a peasant cowering in front of him with a sword. And after like 10 hours, you are basically invincible and can bruteforce through even lategame shit with little issues, and this is even without breaking the game in numerous ways (in which case you become god like 10 mins in).

The lack of direction would be a lot more respectable if the quests weren't such braindead fetch quests. The game is overly handholdy where it doesn't need to be, just to be needlessly obtuse in other areas. Like sometimes quest givers will mention an NPC for a quest but won't even mention a town or location for where they are at, despite having 30 different irrelevant glossary options, or in other quests you are looking for a character in a town, but you can't even select the dialogue option to ask about it to any NPC in town outside of the very building that character is already in (at which point you've already fucking found them). Or in other quests looking for some tiny hole in the wall cave or crypt in the giant foggy bowl of shit overworld, with a tiny local map with no adjustable zoom that takes forever to scroll. It's just boring fetch quests with no agency and no branching paths, but they try to make it as tedious and annoying as possible.

And the journal is completely inexcusable. It's not "le filtered!!" to call the journal out as a poorly organized, near useless sack of shit. By halfway through the game, it's several hundred pages long, quests are all split up across various pages as it's all chronological with no way to sort or organize it, and half the time your character doesn't even fucking write critical info for the quest. The GotY version for PC fixes this somewhat, but vanilla PC and all Xbox versions have the near worthless journal.

Morrowind is heavily flawed. I don't get why rpg fanboys get so gay about sacred cows. The open secret is that morrowind isn't nearly as dynamic and put together as people want to pretend. Most of its praise is from a game that players imagined they were playing instead while they played this one.

I still didn't find it and I'm playing with Morrowind Expanded mod list so the mine area is much larger and blocked by gates.

If anyone slept on OpenMorrowind and Morrowind Expanded, I can't recommend that stuff enough, it's great, the amount of lore-friendly new quests is amazing, I can't finish a single vanilla quest without being side tracked by some other modlist quest I got along the way. Blades quests are especially fun so far.

Morrowind is an action game. You're just playing it wrong.
Learning spells and having INT and WIL is overrated. What you PLAY is an Orc. What you WANT is STR and AGI. What you NEED is 100 Acrobatics and 100 Long Blade. What you DO is go to quest locations and murder everyone with your sword, they will all die super easy because they balanced this game around you wasting your time leveling non-combat skills. Then you SELL all the shit you stole and BUY scrolls for all the spells you can't cast. You CARRY these spells with your high encumbrance from all that STR you took.

This is how you develop "agency" for your character. By having him whoop everybody's ass until you have to go beg some fat cripple in a cave to let you finish the main quest.

I don't know. There's so much new content it's best to make a non-magic char and get lost in the world so you just walk around and do stuff instead of 'tisming about ingredients and x5 to attributes.

They got parts of Cyrodiil (at least 3 towns) in there too, I've only been to Anvil so far but it's great, better/richer in content than Oblivion.
