What happens when upscaled textures are able to recapture the essence of the original textures? Will you upscale just to see what it's like, or are you a purist?
I literally do not give a fuck about the resolution of the textures and neither do you. Stop being fucking retarded for (You)s.
>>12189365But I do, in fact, give a fuck. Many people give a fuck.I know you're blind and need a screen reader for the internet, and really, I'm so sorry for that. It must suck to not be able to see. But for those of us with working eyes, texture resolution matters in regards to visual clarity.
>>12189365You must be a purist.
>>12189373No you don't. Fuck off. Stop trolling.
>>12189389Wait, you actually believe it's trolling to like high resolution textures. That's incredible. What kind of person actually believes that?

>>12189393Wait, bait used to be believable.
>>12189503My 5 year old knows how to reconcile a differing opinion, maybe he can give you lessons.
>>12189546I miss when bait was good
>>12189549You're watching the thread just to reply.
>>12189361Ignore 12189365, they're a fag. For me it depends on the texture. If the texture is like the image in your OP (a real photo), or if the texture is handdrawn, I prefer to upscale since it captures the original source better. But if the texture is sprite work, I prefer to keep it at the original resolution.
>>12189361That looks like shit.
a lot of the "essence" relied on CRTs that your fancy AI upscaled textures won't capture.
>>12189361I just increase the internal resolution to an integer factor (even non-powers of 2) and whatever the result is is good for me.
Off-topic, but I like the Mesen texture packs. They're a cool novelty. Even the ones that look awful are kind of funny.
>>12189556I feel the same way, although I don't like where AI upscaling is at the moment, it tends to be a bit too smeary and blob-like. I'm looking forward to when it gets a bit better. Sprites are always fine as is.>>12189557We're not at the point where >upscaled textures are able to recapture the essence of the original texturesyet. What will you do if they ever are able to, anon?>>12189559Of course! The CRT adds a unique sort of detail that can't be easily replicated, even with shaders.
>>12189361what game is this?
>>12189361FITHOS
>>12189365fpbpi just play most games at 640x480 because i'm not a retard whose eyes need special treatment in the form of HI-FIDELITY AI SLOPPA UPSCALING to enjoy a game
>>12189645You're arguing against a point that was never made. That's not even the topic.
To see? Doesn't really mean anything. But no video game is to ever receive any "HD remake", it is cancer and worthless and evil to improve the graphics of any video game.At least it used to be, because video games used to be released as finished projects, now they're just never-ending projects constantly being worked on.
>>12189645You're joking but I play Thief 1 in 800*600 with texture filtering forced off.
>>12189767I'm not even joking, though I did mean to say 800x600
>>12189563the CRTs have lasers in their screens that you can't replicate on a modern television
>>12189785And?
>>12189814that's magic!
