>>12206794This one actually although there are things about 3 and 4 that I liked and wish were a thing with 5. Mostly how the difficulty balancing worked. The archers in DW3 were absolutely brutal. I would also say the music in previous games was better for the most part but every DW game has bangers for songs. For me DW5 felt the most polished in regards to the combat mechanics so it wins. Xtreme Legends is a ton of fun as well.

5E or 5XL for Destiny mode. DW is at its best with character creation options IMO, with both 5E and 5XL have. DW4 is also great for the same reason. 5/E/XL's gameplay > 4's though.

Convince me to play an Empires game, I was always too burned out on a given generation of DW/SW to put any time into them. They seem pretty mindless. And the base games are obviously also pretty mindless but at least the maps have some drama and historicity.

>>12223653Haven't figured out what exactly triggers these messages in old games, but I can only guess it's tied to losing a certain amount of troops belonging to a certain unit, and possibly unit HP**when offscreen, both officers and group leaders are compressed together and share one HP value. Officers have their own bodyguards, while group leader refers to troopers such as Majors, Guard Captains, First Bow, etc.
Warriors games are one of the most brain dead slop gameplay experiences one can waste their time with. Just absolute mindless button mashing.

5 and 8 are tied for the best in the "classic" style. Origins is the best of the new style, although it only has 9 as competition so whatever.

>>12224028I think for most of us, 5E's battles are fun because they're trimmed down and dynamic. Less bad guys but still enough to have fun killing them. Games can go on for an extremely long time if you let them, which means tons of battles. And you get to command your officers and send them to capture or defend points or officers, use ploys and shit... There's less action per battle but the action that's there is still succinct.That said, I like playing 4 and 5 (the base games, not empires) when I'm in the mood to really shut my brain off and grind KOs. Just different styles methinks.

DW5DW5 EmpiresDynasty Tactics 2 (if that counts)I find it hard going back to the ones before those, probably because I played the fucking shit out of DW5 & 5 Empires. My only complaints about 5 are that Da Qiao and Xiao Qiao's "best" weapons are HEAVY, which is retarded, that had to be an accident. Also Wu Zhang Plains is a pain in the ass on harder difficulties.non-retro, DW8XL & 8 Empires. Didn't care for 6 & 7, though they had fucking awesome soundtracks, especially 6.
