GOolden Axe The Duel. After asking around about this game for years and always being met with "HOLY SHIT NEVER MENTION THIS GAME ITS HOOOORRIBLE" I finally just played it myself.

It's actually perfectly fine. It has an odd gimmick or two and isn't trumping the top tier if mid 90s fighters but it's far from a worst of lust. It's objectively an upper tier mid fighting game that's fun if you like the setting and characters. Not one of the best, but not even remotely bad considering the real low tier of this era fighters being pumped out because it was the peak of genre popularity. Play more games, stop mimicking reviews, or shut up company war wannabe tastemaker spergs

Maybe they mixed it up with the other relatively obscure fightan based on a bmup series, Final Fight Revenge? Sounds understandable.
Either way, it's would be an alright SamSho clone, if it was just a bit more balanced, if the music wasn't hit and miss and if characters outside of descendands of ones from the first game felt more like Golden Axe characters.
Otherwise, indeed there were a lot of way worse fighting games out there.
