It goes downhill really fast and has a lot of timeskips with a lackluster story and very unlikeable characters (except Misato). Dragonball Z with all of its filler and cheap animation is more entertaining. Even the gayest Gundam series are better. Evangelion is a lot like FFVII, okay as an adult but better if you were a kid. Shinji isn't even edgy, I don't get why people hate him so much.He's a regular good kid, a bit shy, a bit awkward, but of nice heart.He got a little cocky in episode 16 but was promptly humbled by the Sea of Diract angel. Then he goes through numerous traumatic events (friend from school lost a leg, got tang'd, rei dies and a new cold rei appears, kaji dies, misato gets depressive because of it, and asuka goes into a coma), all of that devolves into him losing all hope, only to get it back upon meeting Kaworu, who then betrays him.Most of the stuff that makes Shinji as traumatized as he is on EoE is out of his controls.Most midwits online shout "get in the fucking robot!", ignoring the fact that all the fucked up stuff happens because of ulterior motifs. Sure, let's hate on Shinji because a bunch of cyborg jews want to Childhood's End humanity.
