Simply incredible.

legendary boot sequence. gamecube, xbox, and ps1 all have great boot sequences. dreamcast is pretty good, ps2 is nice, but they can't compete with the 3 greats.

My xbox had the xmbc dashboard pre installed. Want to change it to something more stock for the ambience

Perhaps a soulful dashboard. But I argue the peak part.

As much as Xbox mogs PS2 no intro can possibly beat the ethereal sovlfulness of the PS2 intro.

What exactly stopped the PS2 discs from dropping out of their tray and explode into plastic splinters once you'd reposition the console on its side?
>>
>>12209057
The PS2 disc tray was recessed for vertical alignment. However, only mongs did this.

So how much storage space did the original Xbox have?

Back then we were amazed that no matter what we put on it it always said it had "+50000 blocks"
>>
>>12208769
looking back, it's funny how the xbox menu felt like a look into "the future of gfx", like it felt otherworldly and complex in a way that none of the xbox games could actually compare to
>>
>>12210692
also, it's funny how much metroid prime and the xbox menu have a same vibe

The bottom edge of the disk tray (when vertical) has this groove in it that holds the disk, there's basically no clearance for the disk to go anywhere inside the disk drive, and once the tray is fully closed the motor automatically aligns and clamps on to the disk anyway.
>>
>>12209057
Nothing.
You were expected to tilt the PS2 horizontally before opening the tray, like a normal fucking person would.

8GB, was it not?
>>
>>12210821
Functionally it's 4GB for user data. Rest is cache/system files.

adding IDE 8GB Seagate HDD, if that counts/matters.

i feel like the Sega CD boxes were pretty aesthetic too even if they were pretty fragile
>>
>>12210854
I feel like in an alternate universe, where games/movies didn't follow the defacto standard of delivering their physical media, which were all basically DVD cases of that era, I'd like to think that M$ would have had some unique game cases for the first Xbox.

subscription MMOs have existed since the 90s, anon. Nintendo satellavision and the Dreamcast online also were subscription-based and did so before Xbox. Voice chat, server hosting, that stuff costs money.

I wonder what it would take to max out an unmodded Xbox's hard drive? I wouldn't even be surprised if just having a save for every single game wasn't enough. You'd need to have like every XBLA game installed, shit like the CS and Halo2 map packs installed. Maybe there's a bunch of games that can install to the hard drive for faster load times too?

i'm a jeet, but I share the same principles as the japanese and european people who have rejected your slop machine (hence the burger analogy, no soul)

Among a lot of other small goodies, it includes a menu entry for launching your games and homebrews off the hard drive and lets the dashboard run at 720p 60fps.
