How did they fuck up the sequel so badly?
They fucked up by making a turn-based combat game. Turn-based combat is lame. Play action RPGs instead.

Outside of FFX, turn based JRPGs on PS2 suck really bad. I genuinely don't know what happened it's like they forgot how to make them. Such an instantaneous fall off too, it wasn't gradual at all, the second devs switched to PS2 all of the talent, artistry and soul was left behind.
