>Seemingly random difficulty curve both across worlds and across level sets>Literally pixel-accurate precision required for some solutions>No indication out front of how many lemmings you can sacrifice in a given level, and after actually clearing it you only get a hint of whether you can do better>Kinda racist>Glitchy as fuck physics at the best of times>Still extremely fun and addictive. How did they do it?
>>12211559>tries to cash in on success of lemmings>same game, just worse levels>ui graphics got worse>music got substantially worse>[spolier]op is a massive fucking faggot[/spoiler]haven't played it since first few days of its release and i don't know many others that did either.
i had the geneses port as a kid. never beat it. hell, i think i only beat like, two of the tribes, one of them being the highlander tribe.i spent so much time fucking around with the different tribe's jobs, though. it was so fucking fun.even if the first lemmings is the superior puzzle game, the tribes was the bigger timesink just to fuck around with. i loved it.
>>12211746Regardless of what I did to your dad's bussy, I can't agree with the rest of your post. The Tribes doesn't do anything more obtuse or mean spirited than what the first game does in terms of level design; the problem isn't that middle layer of the game's design, but the overly bloated core gameplay and the haphazard and uneven structure overall. The game is a lot of fun but having 50 skills to master rather than just 8 makes for a lot of fumbling around to work out the kinks even if the general difficulty wasn't all over the place to begin with. On the flip side though, the designers didn't have to rely on time limits to base the difficulty of the later levels like they did in the first game.
>>12211559Eh, I was thinking about Lemmings 2 just a couple of days ago.Tbh I loved the different tribes, I think it added a lot to the first game. I also liked the music. Can't remember if I ever completed the game, though. All New World of Lemmings wasn't good any more, and Lemmings 3D just didn't work.
>>12212807The tribes idea is cute, but it's weird how despite being theme-based there's no exclusive skills (save for one iirc) and they show up basically at random, like how the space tribe doesn't get to use jetpacks at all but the beach tribe does lol
Some of the skills like the magnetic boots make for interesting puzzles and feel like an organic extension of the first game's general concept, but others have too complicated or specific usage or are ridiculously unintuitive (like glue pouring, whose main application is basically a glitch). And then there's a whole glut of platforming skills that kinda go against the indirect control concept the game is supposed to have. In some levels it feels like you're being forced to play a conventional platforming game using RTS controls, and that's all the challenge that there's to it.
>>12214316Wow, that looks unpleasant.
How wild would it be for Rockstar to deliver a new Lemmings game before GTA6?
>>12215480Sony owns Lemmings now.
>>12211559oh fuck that cave babe lemming though she's hot!
>>12212807>Lemmings 3D just didn't work.I thought it was okay at the time. If you played it when it was brand new, there was an enjoyable novelty in seeing Lemmings in 3D. But it doesn't hold up now.
>>12218405I've bought the game as soon as it was released. I never got the hang of the controls and I just didn't like the level design. That, and I though 2D lemmings were cuter.
>>12212807>>12218405>>12218434There's a better 3D Lemmings game.
>>12212490Some of the level themes/terrains look amateurish and visually awful for a 1993 game, the sports and circus tribes' specially. The best looking themes are probably the space and classic tribes' and still they don't hold a candle to the first game's environments
