My friend in elementary school had a bootleg copy of Grand Battle 3 on his PS1, it was how I learned about the magic of piracy on the console and the art of swapping a black disc with a burnt disc. I tried looking the game up after seeing this thread and turns out it doesn't exist, so I guess the game I'm thinking of had some bootleg magic to it.

I played Grand Battle so much as a kid. Definitely my favorite fighting game of all time. The sequel Grand Adventure was fucking terrible though. They changed so much shit that didn't need changing and the enemy AI summoned support characters constantly!

shanks comes from the figarland family who are holy knights (special celestial dragons) that work under Imu, one of the original 20 kings that is somehow this unholy regenration shadow demon and rules the world in secret. imu gives each gods knight a mark on their arm that allows them to teleport, gain extra strength, but also has direct control over them. shanks had the mark on his left arm and he intentioanlly let the sea king eat it, so now imu has no power over him

This. One Piece, as I knew it as a kid was simply about an underdog pirate gang going on adventures. Now the plot has turned into Kingdom Hearts shit that's impossible to follow unless someone gives you ten pages of spoilers. Luffy is literally a looney tunes god now there are no stakes left for him, and the crew is barely relevant to the story anymore. I fucking hate it.
