>>12213757>first RoboCop NES game is a decent adaptation based on DataEast's own arcade gameNo, it isn't. The coin-op was based on the home versions by Ocean Software; Ocean owned the vidya rights to the IP and sub-licenced them to Data East, who in turn used the Ocean title as a template, with some ideas going the other way. The NES port borrows some elements, but is largely a unique game.>second RC NES game is a port of some Eurojank slipformer Wrong again. Ocean still held the licence and the game was developed from the ground up. >didn't make their own adaptation of their own RC2 arcade gameThat's because affordable home consoles couldn't handle the heavily tweaked Caveman Ninja arcade board that the RoboCop 2 game ran on. It would have been dogshit.>What were they thinking? I'm guessing it was a rights issue, but damn. Why couldn't DE have made the sequel? You've answered your own question, creep.
>>12213757Did you have to leave us hanging? What are your thoughts on RoboCop 3 on the NES?
>>12213852>Wrong again. Ocean still held the licence and the game was developed from the ground upIs not it a port of the C64 game?
>>12213853This. OP is slacking for sure
>>12213878Pretty much, but OP claimed the NES game was a port of "some Eurojank slipformer". That's...nebulous. Could be referring to any game.>>12213853It's ass. Stick to the 16-bit versions.
>>12213757>slipformerI like that. So true. Fuck Robocop 2. And 3. At least we have the based NES version and the shiny, yet cheap, arcade game.

I think the underlying problem is that the arcade games were bad. I had Ocean's Robocop 2 for the Commodore 64, and it was a big pile of shit. I lived on in the belief that the arcade version must have been better, but when I emulated it as an adult, it was also a big pile of shit, albeit with better graphics.
