those game systems were very expensive and extremely low quality (boring). boomers got burned so hard for being early adopters that they spent the rest of their lives hating video games because of all the money they wasted on them. they also had interesting lives that didn't revolve around looking at a screen because the world was different back then and they can't conceive that it has changed. that said, boomers also programmed all of your favorites games.
