Back in the 90s, Sonic strode throughout Europe like a colossus, with petty plumbers walking under his mega-cool high-tops to find themselves in dishonourable graves. With that success came the opportunity for licensing, and while Sonic's forays into other media are more well-known, I thought it'd be fun to take a more literary path.
Remember, Sonic canon in 1993 was a lot more loosey-goosey, thanks to Sega having no oversight, so things are gonna get... odd.
Thank you for indulging me.
This is the novel that includes the Roaming Romans
I enjoyed these books and looked at one recently and decided they're still good, so i was excited to see 160 posts about them in 2 hours like wow lots of good discussion, instead it was OP doing the extremely worst, worse than i could have imagined possible way of linking the text. what the fuck
Hey OP, just wondering, why did you think this was a good idea?
>>12216471Testing the waters, mostly; I normally lurk on /co/, where storytimes are fairly regular occurences (mostly comics, but books sometimes get storytimed).I do have other British Sonic books from this time period, if people are interested. Not just prose, but stuff like the Sonic Joke Book, if people prefer stuff like that.
>>12216532These things are already preserved on archive.org among other places. You can just link the archives if you want an actual discussion, maybe post like 5 replies max of your personal highlights.

>>12216970Fair enough; maybe setting up a /vr/ book club in the New Year? There are plenty of prose novels for various /vr/ franchises, so it's not like there'd only be the Sonic prose books to choose from>>12218151This novel series is pretty fucking interesting, in that it came out around the same time as AoStH first aired, so it still used the weird little rage-gremlin design Robotnik had on the US/UK box art>>12218183https://www.gov.uk/copyright/how-long-copyright-lastsTechnically, the copyright ran out on this book back in 2018, and Sega are usually pretty chill about copyright anyway, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
>>12218361>/vr/ book clubThat's not the worst idea I've heard - not sure how many people would go for it, but it's worth asking to gauge interest, or checking to see how other boards have handled book clubs before

>>12218361>>12218590As surprising as it may sound, OP isn't completely full of shit: while the copyright of this book won't run out for decades, if not a century (assuming the author is still alive) the actual typography of the book, i.e. formatting and other shit, did indeed become legal fair game back in 2018. This means it's TECHNICALLY fine to repost it as is.Of course, this doesn't go into the question as to who actually owns the copyright on this book - technically, Virgin and Sega both own it, but I guaran-goddam-tee you that neither company gives two shits either way over something as ephemeral as a video game tie-in book published for 6-12 year olds that was squirted out for a quick buck... or in this case, a quick quid.
>>12218635Sega might care as a matter of principle, but they wouldn't go after OP. At most, they'd partyvan the download link on Internet Archive. It's not like these old books are going to be reprinted
