I was enjoying Eviternity until I reached the point where the mappers decided to put an Arch-Vile in every single level. "Tee-hee, we're doing it again!" Fuck off. It's not big, it's not clever, and no one is enjoying it, so cut it out. I have to start savescumming when these guys show up.

Revenant and Mancubus are good additions. Chaingunner is annoying, but I can tolerate it. It's the Arch-Vile that makes me lose my temper. It might not be so bad in the base game, but it's a huge pain in the arse in custom wads, because the body count is much higher and the Archie is sprinting around resurrecting them by the dozens.

this is only a problem when you don't pistol start. playing the levels as they were realistically designed the ssg functions as a refreshing powerup. and when you don't have it from the start every level its weaknesses start to show through. it's not good at preventing chip damage from hitscanners and it's weak as an emergency get off me weapon compared to the plasma gun.

I thought 1's enemy roster got kind of tired by episode 3. baron of hell has pretty narrow applicability as a spongey miniboss and the lost souls are a supporting nuisance, only really having the caco demon as a next level threat beyond the core trio wasn't enough.
