I am really hoping they do the rest of this series. There's a PCECD game, and a 3DO title. Misa Yamamura Suspense similarily has a PCECD and 3DO sequel.

The most likely route they do a 3DO game is through these mystery games, rather than anything else.

The 3DO version of Nishimura Kyōtarō Travel Mystery has real life people and it actually got a total remake that removed all the people for blue silhouettes. There was a bit of a fad during this generation for adventure games to have photos of real life people, and funny enough they have not been featured on the show yet. It was felt to be a natural evolution of the genre.

The 3DO edition of Yamamura Misa Suspense is likewise real actors, but it didn't get any ports or remakes.

The Sega CD version of Night Trap is the first game on the show to feature real life actors, which was a western title.
>>
>>12224512
Correction: My information was incorrect and based on mobygames often incomplete listings.

The 3DO Yamamura Misa Suspense game got a PSP remake that likewise removed live action actors for silhouettes.

I hope they do Dead or Alive at some point. The ep basically writes itself.

>very sad he recently passed
>they play clip of Arino interviewing him in the show's first season
>episode dedicated to him
>narrator says he can't tarnish Itageki's legacy by not beating the game.
>>
I have a confession. A very long time ago I filled in the GCCX game recommendation form, this time for the Sega Saturn port of Phantasmagoria. I put in the Japanese name without even reading it: ファンタズム

That is katakana for "Phantasm". So without any context, someone reading the form will just see that, and not any other detail for the game.

In 2020 they challenged "Avenging Spirit", which is known in Japan as... "Phantasm".

So it's entirely possibly I accidentally suggested this and it made it onto the show.
>>
>>12224538
you SON of a BITCH!!!!!!!!! It was YOU!?
>>
>>12224548
Yes, I imagine in 2018 an AD reading the recommendations list, seeing "Phantasm" and thinking " oh neat, that gameboy game. Nice choice!"
>>
>Monster Hunter (2006) PS2

Tick Tock. Tick Tock. In only 3 years it's very likely that we're gonna see Arino-san challenge Demon's Souls.
>>
>The guy who was shitposting about my list last thread copy pasted it.
Jokes on him, those are all good episodes that should be subbed
>>
>>12224538
Oh yeah, even if you're not aware of other games with the same name, you gotta tell them which console you mean to make sure.
>>
>>12224442
>Shin Nippon Pro Wrestling: Chou Senshi in Tokyo Dome
Would it be possible to just sub the staff battle section? That was a GOAT staff battle.
https://files.catbox.moe/tu3vcn.mp4
>>
>>12226542
Phantasm is probably the better game, and fits the format of the show better. Phantasmagoria is probably too violent for the show, and they picked a much better American FMV game to challenge: Night Trap. So it all worked out in the end.

Still funny as fuck how the show translated this line themselves.
Who directed that episode?
>>
>>12224925
I was going to say that the game would be too long, but then remembered he did Ocarina of Time on the show, as well as Metal Gear Solid.
With some help (a lot of help) from the ADs that would be a fun challenge. Especially if its a case of 'We'll get you to the boss again with lots of healing items, Arino' and he just has to beat the bosses.
>>
>>12229749
Ocarina of Time was a total shit show. Metal gear solid somehow worked, but Monster Hunter is almost entirely grinding with hunts on the longer side, I can't see it being a good challenge
>>
>>12229756
I was thinking of Demons Souls more than Monster Hunter.
>>
I just wish they were willing to allow games that didn't get released in Japan like StarTropics and The Lone Ranger. Both would make for some great 2-part episodes.
>>
>>12229780
Why was I thinking Monster Hunter?
Still, a Souls game might be one of those 'designed to fail' challenges since while Arino is good at brute forcing stuff, there's no way they'd have enough time.
>>
>>12229793
>allow
I think he's mostly playing jank that was previously released by his sponsors. Namco for example publishes his games so he has to get on that proverbial knee every once in a while.

Bullshit. Old games were hard because everyone wanted them that way. The truth is that video games casualized over time but Iwata can't possible say that the average player isn't as good now as he was then because that would be insulting your audiance.

>>
>>12238031
Last two games were only two eps each, so most likely. PE is a great choice, but often gorey and violent. I would be perfectly fine if they did more mature games and just censored some of the cutscenes. The blood and gore is mostly in a few CGI videos.

>Season 29: Episode 15 (#411) "______ Night" or "______ Knight" (〇〇ナイト) premieres on Thursday, December 25th.

Summon Night? Rocket Knight?

>To commemorate the release of DVD-BOX 22, the Official YouTube Channel will have a special live stream on Saturday, December 20th. It's scheduled to take place from 14:00 to 16:00 JST (2:00 PM to 4:00 PM).

That should be fun. They haven't done one of those lately.
>>
>>12239996
Night/Knight only refers to a small handful of games in Glorious Nippon.

> King's Knight (1986)
> Cacoma Knight (1992)
> Summon Night (January 6, 2000)
> Cyber Knight (October 12, 1990)
> Mitsumete Knight (March 19, 1998)
> Dragon Knight 1-2-3
> Echo Night#2: Nemuri no Shihaisha (August 5, 1999)
> Clockwork Knight (December 9, 1994)
> Rocket Knight Adventures (1993)

The Japanese title is "Rocket Knight Adventures", and the hint seems to be very specific, and seems to imply it's only two words.

More likely it's King's Knight, Cacoma Knight, or Clockwork Knight. Out of the lot, Clockwork Knight is my wish as it's a perfectly fine Sega Saturn game.

The others are rpgs, don't quite fit the naming convention, or are NSFW like Dragon Knight.
>>
>>12240140
King's Knight is a piece of shit MSX/FC top down shooter with a medieval fantasy theme and class system.

Cacoma Knight is a game I never heard of before, which is some puzzle game?
>>
>>12240140
Clockwork Knight must have been enough of a hit that they made a sequel for it so it probably had some kind of impact in Japan. A side scroller with 3D environments, so it fits the show's format better than other games.

You could do worse. There's that awful Willy Wombat Saturn game for example.
>>
>>12240147
Cacoma Knight is a Qix clone
>>
>>12240560
Oh not a bad choice then. There's a few of these games in Japan with women in either bikinis or fully nude including some for the arcade. Not a bad choice then. I'm okay with either.

I ignored Clockwork Knight on release and didn't understand the appeal. Looking at Screenshots, it's almost near identical to the Toy Story SFC/MD game released in 1994 so it's just an off-brand version of that.
>>
>>12239996
hope it's echo night.
>>
>>12241897
already did that in the summer. two echo nights in a single year? unheard of.
>>
They never clarified exactly what the broadcast rules are, and I'm sometimes shocked at what they can get away with. A key sticking point seems to be blood and if it's colored red or not. We saw that if the zombies in House of the Dead have green censored zombie blood then it's okay for a daytime broadcast show. Red? no no.

Iru is a neat game but has some red blood at times.
>>
>>12242393
If blood happens but is relatively rare they can just skip those parts. I always thought Abe's Oddysee would be a great fit for the show being a cinematic platformer that isn't very long but the blood, violence and dreary theme make it a no go. I'm pretty sure I saw cartoons more violent than that as a kid but whatever.
>>
>>12242436
I can't think of any game they've had to edit out any kind of blood. I know Clock Tower 2 has a lot of mayhem against zombies, but apparently that's okay because the blood is yellowish-green.
