But I actually do enjoy sailing in Wind Waker, why is everyone being such an asshole about it?
>>12226341As they get older, a lot of people stop being immersed and just enjoying the world of the games they play, and they start treating games almost like a chore to be done with, so they see the sailing as a waste of time
>>12226413Man, whatever. I hit up the game on Switch 2 (and the Wii U version too) again just this year and it still delivers. There's something about setting out over the horizon with the grandiose music playing in the background that does exactly what Nintendo was attempting to do with it. The sense of vast open ocean just didn't have anything to compare to at the time and, while I can see why someone might find it boring, I personally loved it.
>>12226413>a chore to be done withOkay, so why doesn't that apply to the parts of Wind Waker that are actually fun to play?
>>12226440Because those parts don't depend on the atmosphere as much
>>12226341This. Why is everyone complaining about non-issues like the art style and sailing, when there are so many actual problems with the game.
Today I will remind them. TP>MM>WW>OOT
>>12226341But I wanna check the game off my list and move onto the next one!Take me to the credits NOW NOW NOW NOW NOW NOW NOW!
>set wind in direction>open sail>walk away for 5 minutes knowing you'll miss nothingIt's really not hard to comprehend why it's shit.
>>12226341>Why is "everyone" a handful of retarded children only retarded children care about?Bad genes, bad parenting, the list goes on.
STOPLIKINGZELDAGAMES
>>12226341They forgot to use the sail.
You can stop samefagging now OP.
Sailing isn’t the problem. It’s the braindead combat, cut content, dogshit dungeons, and the triforce quest that ruin it
>>12226341I absolutely hated that you had to play the instrument to change the wind every single time. And you had to remember it or have it written down
How do you know you're talking to a Wind Waker fag? They can't go 5 minutes without complaining that people don't like their game.
>>12226341> why is everyone being such an asshole about it?ADHD
>>12226532the sailing is was the main draw that replaced all that, and it's a problem that it's not fun. despite the touch controls, it's better executed in phantom hourglass. granted that game has its own padding issues but at least there it's mostly consigned to one area.
>>12226532The triforce quest is nothing but sailing, if it's a problem then that's because sailing is.
>>12226465because a lot of people just repeat what they read here to try and fit in
>>12226413The sailing is a complete of waste of time though
>>12226413>meanwhile back in 2003
>>12226341I loved it back then and I loved it now that fucking sailing theme is so damn good and really seals the deal. hot take but wind waker has better music than OOT (OOT is still the better game ofc)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xV9_iMpXv-U
unironically the sailing is my favorite part of the game. I had more fun with the triforce hunt than any other part, filling out each corner of the map, not knowing what kind of island ill run into next. for me that was peak exploration and peak zelda. if only it had OOT quality dungeons to go along with it, it would easily be the greatest zelda game. sadly they are mostly shit.
>>12226341I enjoyed all of WW, in part because I too enjoyed sailing around. Sure maybe some felt like hunting down the Triforce charts and collecting the pieces was a slog, but I guess for me it kinda captured the feeling of an actual adventure. I never played the HD version with the pared down quest, so who knows, maybe I'd have found the pacing better in that release.
>>12226471Reverse that and I would agree with you
I loved sailing and the triforce hunt. It's one of the only times in 3d Zelda where money matters. Hunting for treasure discovering islands and decoding triforce charts is awesome
>>12226670Mildly Spicy take, WW has exactly one track better than anything in OoT, and that's the Outset Island theme, which is both the best track in all Zelda and the best 'village theme' in any game.
>>12226471They're all amazing in their own way, and you're just a faggot. :^)
>>12226670OOTcels have literally nothing that compares to this song btwhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SXGGvsHq6iA
>>12226413this is true with a heap of games tho...megaman weapon equip screens, pokemon battles, replaying dkc1\2\3 shitty bonus stages, yoshi island intro, etc...the list goes on
>>12227241then maybe it's a sign you're not that interested in video games anymore and should find something new
>>12226450So that just means the sailing in Wind Waker lacks compelling atmosphere.
>>12226341gaystation kids eternally mad that they missed out
>>12227906you can't really miss it out now. in fact, i don't think you could ever miss out on it
>>12226471>MM over WW and OOTSay whaaaaaaaat
>>12226341>But I actually do enjoy sailing in Wind WakerEveryone did. At first. Then it simply turns into time wasting commuting chore.
>>12227905For you
>>12226618he's right. Aiming the cannon to fight the little boats is a gigantic pain in the ass and I gurantee youll be knocked out of your boat at least once
>>12226413>As they get olderBro I was 10 when I realized it just fucking sucked - when I decided one day to go through the entire Great Sea row by row.>alright, entering a new map square after a minute or two of sailing>no platforms or anything, I guess that rock over there is the island>uhh... okay, there wasn't really much there. next one?>sailing, sailing... oh, that rock must be the next island>nothing there either, huh, well I might as well check this treasure chart out...>50 rupees...>okay it's been 10 minutes and I'm already bored as shit
>>12226618>when people get older they treat games as a job and find them to be chores to play>oh yeah? Well heres a review from an old guy whos job is literally to play games and he finds games to be a chore to playholy cow you really owned that guy
>>12228561>guy is paid to review games>he didn't like this part>it doesn't count because it's his jobdoes the same apply to positive reviews, or is this just how nintendrones write off the negative ones?
>>12228585youre losing it buddy can you even process the words youre reading on screen right now?
>>12226670i wouldn't go that far but ww definitely has better battle music at least. they should've themed the game after the wild west insteadhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y8Yr7HJR1TUhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g8tLQ9tu2Gc
>>12227928that's the only good take he has in that list
>>12228613so it's the latter, got itfigured as much
>>12226341did you get to the part where you need to sail around the ocean pulling up for the triforce fragments?
>>12226413>a choreThese people have bigger problems in life
>>12229021The problem is they're playing Wind Waker, a game where Anouma decided doing nothing was more fun than fighting monsters.
>>12226532>braindead combatReally this game had funner feeling combat than TP or any of the N64 Zelds. Musical cues as you get hits in, the timed counter attacks, even some stealing limited use weapons for the odd battle/puzzle. Something about it felt more involved than spamming the same attack, and the upgraded WEHHHHHHHHHHHH charge attack was pretty much how a kid wielding a legendary sword would go.
>>12226413>As they get more and more addicted to instant gratification, a lot of people stop being immersed and just enjoying the world of the games they playFTFY
>>12228585i would say only plebs take reviews of any kind seriously, but that's an insult to plebs. only people who can't think for themselves take reviews of any kind seriously. play the game/listen to the album/read the book/watch the movie/etc yourself and then share your own thoughts about it, then discuss it with other people who have done the same. this has been the basis of western polities for centuries, it's not some new radical idea.
>>12229075It's the character in the enemies. The way they act is so fun.
>>12229081The point of a review is to let you know whether it's worth spending $49.99 on the product, not to stand in for the experience it provides. Objective reviews absolutely have value to consumers, especially those who were alive to read them at the time. Writing them off as a concept entirely doesn't make sense.>i would say only plebs take reviews of any kind seriouslyWould you say this about a review for headphones? Of course not. You're only saying it about this review because it critiques a product you like, and for some reason you feel personally attacked by that.
>>12226341I loved WW when it was brand new. People hated it because they hated the shift of tone. The artstyle is the only thing about it that's aged well. The game has fuck all content and so much ridiculous padding I couldn't even finish my replay of it. Knocked my rose-tinted glasses right off. It's why I'll never replay Sonic Adventure 2 Battle. I know for CERTAIN that game is a heap of shit even though I loved it when I was 14.
>>12226596No it isnt fucking retard
>>12228613I accept your concession
>>12229097i agree about products, but unlike those media is inherently subjective unless you're referring to stuff like gamebreaking bugs in modern aaa games. with food it depends on how it's reviewed, you can't just say "it tastes delicious/like shit" you gotta go into detail about how it tastes to you and what you.also i've been criticizing this game through half the thread what? >>12226553 >>12228687 >>12228695 are all medifference is i didn't like it from what i played not what some guy said. with that all being said, i think that reviewer specifically brought up decent points.
>>12229145>you can't just say "it tastes delicious/like shit"You can, but any good review will give reasons why they think that, which the review in question does. It's also not an outlier; others have, and continue to echo the same sentiment for the same reasons. You may not agree with it, but it's a relevant reference tool that shows that this isn't a recent talking point, and isn't being fabricated by bad actors.>i agree about productsNintendo games ARE products, anon.
>>12226532>triforce questGod forbid an adventure game has some downtime.
>>12229821the idea of the triforce quest was really good, but the execution left a lot to be desired. first off, the king should tell you about it as soon as you leave old hyrule for the first time. if you're not interested in exploring (yes it's an exploration game so you should but the exploration isn't very fun either so) you're punished for no reason unlike in prime 1 where they tell you about the artifacts very early. then there's the problem of most of them being right next to each other, which is just lazy design and indicates even they thought the sailing took too long. the ghost ship one is neat to chase, but the ghost ship itself isn't even a short mini-dungeon but a reskin of the submarines. the naval warfare one doesn't even do anything new iirc beyond blocking the door with a cannon, but that means you don't even have to fight them all. finally there's the ludicrous price you have to pay for all this, now personally i love tingle and find this very funny but from a gameplay perspective this is completely asinine. you should still have to pay but the price should be lower, say 128 rupees per map.
>>12229858addendum: the ghost ship one would be even neater to chase if it didn't show up on the map. the chart tells you where to look at what moon phases, why put it on the map too? where's the mystery in that?
Playing various games in randomized form is a great way of letting them shine in a new light imo.Wind waker randomized is really great fun because starting free on the open sea and needing to sail around the world to hunt for treasure that could be money or unique equipment makes for an excellent sea faring adventure
>>12230579>trandomizerno thanks
>>12230664>trandomizer
>>12230579yeah that's definitely true, especially considering you can have the swift sail. although missing the one item you need is a lot more painful in ww, granted i feel that way about 3d randos in general.
>>12226596this, it's just to waste your time so tendie thinks he got his $60 worth
>>12230664obsessed, rent free
>>12230579Actually, this sounds like a blast. I think I will do this on my next Windwaker playthrough. Any links to a particular mod for this? (Save me a trip to google.com)

>>12226413Nah there just aren't many games designed for the type of laid back immersion adults want. Least not that I know of. Give me a sailing simulator with solid physics and charts and weather and instruments, a bunch of different yachts to sail along with gorgeous, detailed environments to explore and lots of lore. I don't need a story or brutal survival mechanics. Just chill travel.
