So what Xbox games are actually playable on this piece of shit?
None, unless you have a supercomputer. You DO have a supercomputer, right?
No games with streamed video work, so forget about those
>>12226446>Xbox gameswhat?
>>12226458It can't be more demanding than PS3 or Switch emulation
So far, splinter cell, mechassault, and xtreme beach volleyball seem to be running alright on my steam deck.
>>12226475>xtreme beach volleyballHave you tried DoA3 and Ultimate? Might try emulating them if there are no issues
>>12226472Wrong answer, man.
>>12226472yes it canthere are some ps2 games that are harder to run than their ps3 hd versions
>>12226446Tony Hawk's 3. The others aren't quite done yet.
>>12226480
>>12226490>mfw running brute force at 20fps
>>12226481It's interesting how emulating newer versions of a game can be easier than emulating the original.I've had fewer issues emulating the 360 version of Banjo Kazooie than the N64 one.
>>12226493I'd be surprised if N64 BK still had major emulation issues, unless you're using a shitty emulator like Project64
>>12226458>works fine on steamdeckyou must have one hell of a shit computer
>>12226458>>12226446Playing ninja gaiden black, doa2u, jet set radio future, doax, doa3, tony hawk pro skater 2x on steam deck.iirc Panzer Dragon Orta and Gun Valkyrie are also playable on steam deck.
>>12226561>>12226597>Plays fucking fighting games which are notoriously easy to emulateKWAB
Fun times ahead
>>12226597you can play doa2u on insigniahalo 2 as welldo it
>>12226603You're just bitter that you can't afford a supercomputer like the steam deck.
Get on Insignia immediately, we played Battlefront 2 with 16 players for several hours tonight and it was a blast. Some people were on mic and everything. I recommend reshade with a crt shader of choice for Xemu if you dont have a crt
jsrf runs pretty decently on my shit laptop. occasional slowdown but still playable.
>>12226750>occasional slowdown but still playableLol okay Pablo.
>>12226687>muh crt filterhmph enjoy your crt filter burn in
>>12226761yeah yeah fuck off I regret not buying something beefier. my cope was that I only wanted to emulate retro shit anyway so need to get something fancy. turns out I want more
>>12226446I played THPSX2 on XEMU and it was fine for the most part>>12226687What advantage does emulating the Xbox version have over the native PC version?
>>12227284People play on xbox
>>12226446From my testing, these ran well:NGB/NG04+Hurricane PacksDOA Xtreme Beach VolleyballKOF: Maximum Impact - ManiaxTHPS2x, THPS3Amped, Amped 2Gauntlet Dark LegacyQuantum RedshiftAirforce Delta StormGun ValkyrieGhost ReconI put these in my "try again later" folder because they suffered from bad performance or visual/audio glitches:Panzer Dragoon OrtaTHPS4BreakdownCrimson SkiesOtogi 2Unreal Championship 2Crimson SeaRepublic CommandoRainbow Six 3/Black Arrow
>>12226446everything multiplatform is better on GC
Isn’t all Xbox emulation focused on making JSRF work? So you have that
>>12226446Phantom Crash works iirc
>>12227809Orta should be completely fine. I played it this past summer and can't think of any issue I saw.I'm generally impressed with how Xemu has cleaned up. A year ago, I couldn't get MechAssault 2 or Forza to run, and now they're both fine. The only issue I've had with any game on there lately is with SoulCalibur II having fucky shadows.
>>12226446when is it getting added to retroachievements?
>>12226597Just looking at this small selection... this shit looks generic teen slop as fuck.
>>12226446Plenty of stuff works, it's really promising and gets pretty frequent updates with tangible improvements. I've played most of the Sega games, Halo 1 and 2, Blinx, Red Dead Revolver, Tony Hawk 2X, Burnout 3, Azurik, the DoA games and Ninja Gaiden Black all the way through with little to no issues. All looked, sounded and played just like they should. And you can play online too with console players in games that support it, real cool stuff.Yeah theres plenty of games that don't work so well or even at all yet, but it's catching up incredibly quickly given how Xbox emulation basically didn't even exist just a few years ago so just give it some more time. I downloaded a fullset and just pop stuff in occasionally to see if it works, and a lot of the time it surprisingly does, it's farther along than you probably think it is.
>>12226750Last time I checked, game would horrifically slowdown whenever the boost button was pressed
>>12226446>>12226446why do vidya companies put up with this shit? why not just keep selling old consoles and their old game catalogs? nintendo put out a new version of the NES even after they launched the SNES, why don't other companies just embrace that people still want to play their old games instead of letting a bunch of chinese knock-offs steal all their business and IP? i don't want to play old games on the latest $600 console, mind you, i just want to play old games on old "obsolete" hardware without all the flaws of modern gaming (forced log-ins, internet requirements, retinal scan).
>>12226493>I've had fewer issues emulating the 360 version of Banjo Kazooie than the N64 one.Use Project64 you mongoloid
>>12226446Almost everything I threw at it worked fine. Manhunt had broken shadows but maybe it was fixed idk.
>>12232328What??? No, don't use Project64 that thing is a piece of shit and probably why it didn't work for him. Use ares, everything else is trash.
How far are we from having Xbox emulation be good enough to bother playing the multiplats? Pretty much every game not made by Konami that gen had the best version on Xbox but at this point in time you are way better off playing the Gamecube versions.
>>12232547The Xemu devs genuinely seem incompetent. Vulkan doesn't get you better framerate like you'd expect and see with every other emulator.
>not owning an xbox>settles for poorly coded emulatorsdamn... what a bunch of plebs on this board...
>>12233126I have two and it’s the most fickle console I’ve ever owned. If it’s not the capacitors destroying the mobo, it’s the jankass dvd drives, or ancient hard drives taking a shit. Its a neat console but m$ make’s shit hardware
>>12233138i think the problems you m8 mine still works flawlessly.take care of your stuff and clean it.
>>12233138chum just fix it>>12232547gc versions are the worst, dont fall for propaganda
>>12232127Because there are no places that have equipment to manufacture all the necessary hardware. And it would cost more to keep it operational with each year.
>>12232634>Vulkan doesn't get you better framerate like you'd expectMaybe it's because Xbox uses DirectX, so it would perform better than Vulkan by design?
>>12233150>gc versions are the worst, dont fall for propagandathis is sadly something as a gckiddie I had to come to terms with. The Gamecube version of a game being as good as or the best version of a multiplatorm is actually a rarity. Most of the time they're compromised either in textures, framerate, fmv quality, minor/major special effects or all of the above. Something like Segas sonic games would be a good example of the exception and Finding Nemo would be a good example of a game that runs at 60fps on ps2, runs 60fps on xbox with better graphics and then on gamecube just runs like complete shit and looks the worst despite it not being a game thats pushing these systems to their limit. The Gamecube just had shitty ports.
>>12226446I played Halo on a Steam Deck through Xemu. Occasional slowdown but definitely playable. In other words, I have played literally everything worth playing that is an Xbox exclusive through Xemu.
>>12226446I am playing Ninja Gaiden Black and it's working fine.
>>12232634Vulkan is an incredibly recent addition, it just needs some more time. Insane how impatient you are and go straight to calling the devs incompetent, Xbox emulation didn't even fucking exist until Xemu came along and it's catching up rapidly. Its not like Project64 where its been around since 2004 and is just as shit as the day it released, its only a few years old and improves literally every week. Give it time man fuck you.
>>12227809>Crimson SkiesIs quite demanding and runs like shit when it's raining. The rain drops have some kind of refraction effect going on that kills the performance.
>>12226446Switch internal renderer to Vulkan for ~20% more frames. You're welcome.
>>12226783The grass is always greener. I have a big chunky heavy gaming laptop & wish it was slimmer. I have Steam Deck for demanding games anyhow. Don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good, it's all about tradeoffs.
>>12228241>A year ago, I couldn't get MechAssault 2 or Forza to run, and now they're both fineWhen I tried Forza a while ago (about two years ago), it had this annoying issue that all the engines in a race would sound on full blast all at once regardless of how far the rival cars were. Has it been fixed?
>>12233507But Vulkan does give more frames on some games
>>12226493That's because coding is less complicated and diffuse.
>>12233212re4, viewtiful joe, tales of symphonia, soul caliber 2 all mog their ps2 counterparts.
>>12234128But no PS2 version ever made me play on a gay purple lunchbox.
>>12233751its just really annoying because it turns out my slim, mid range but def not a gaming laptop runs literally everything I would want to play EXCEPT star ocean 6, one of my favorite series ever, and its driving me insane. but I also cant justfiy buying a deck or better computer for literally one game :(
>>12234132good point, jamal.
>>12234128yes there are exceptions like i said and a few of those were developed for gamecube exclusively first so not the best examples.
>>12234128>soul caliber 2 all mogEnter: GODBOX.
>>12234972xbox is based if you're playing on a hdtv but on a crt there's literally no difference because you'd be playing at 408i anyway and as you can see the graphics and textures are identical but gamecube has link sooo....
>>12234992>linkwhat are you, 12? the ps2 version has heihachi so it's automatically the best one bar the 6th gen ports that have both heihachi and spawn
>>12235004>heihachiif heihachi was a draw the ps2 version would've outsold the gamecube version when typically every ps2 version is the best seller. But it didn't.
>>12235014>the gamecube version sold better so it's the best one!!!!you really are 12
>>12235021the way you get overly emotional over this topic proves you're really just projecting about your own childish behavior. Very insecure. Sad, really.
>>12234128if im stuck playing one version for the rest of timeand i can choose between the version that has better audio, textures, and 1 extra enemy on screenor the version that has extra costumes, extra scenario, extra weapons, and comes on 1 disci take the extra content ever timesorry cubie that's the way she goes.
>>12235014Consider the fact the PS2 had so many games that some people had to make tough choices on which ones to get. Meanwhile the gc had no userbase and no games, so most people bought the few surefire good ones.
>>12235045any data to back up that claim?
>>12235036maybe you're right... i really have some kind of issue with that. heihachi still mogs link though.
>>12235045>>12235050licensed shovelware seemed to sell best on cube so that doesn't seem right at all. I believe battle for bikini bottom has the reputation it does today as one of the best 6th gen platformers (even if it's far from it) because of how many gamecube owners loved the spongebob cartoon.
>>12235067its all good. theres a couple of things that makes heihachi despite being based not very interesting as a guest character for soul calibur over link and not much of a draw.1. he doesnt use weapons and soul calibur is a weapons based fighter2. he comes from a fighting game franchise so you're not getting to play as him in a way you can't already get from tekken3. link has never appeared in a real fighting game so his inclusion was more exciting and he comes from an arguably more popular franchise
>>12235076exactly, for most game franchise multiplatform releases and not licensed tie ins, the ps2 version sold the most, likely thanks to its larger install base
>>12235050Yes, anon. I'm lying about blatantly well known and verifiable facts that will take you a whole 5 seconds to look up. Nintendo fans and their perpetual denial of reality, and you wonder why everyone hates you.
>>12233752I played last weekend (admittedly just to drive backwards and wreck) and it seemed completely fine.
>>12226603Nigger just try emulating the xbox bloody roar game on the steam deck and tell me that
>>12227809The otogi games got fixed just a few months ago, both work correctly now I'm pretty sure
I've been waiting for both Fatal Frames to work for years.Neither work, the camera still doesn't recognize enemies or points of interest so you're softlocked 1 minute in.
try shaun murrays pro wakeboarding on xemu if you like tony hawk 3
>>12235114>playing bloody roar in the first place
>>12235181bloody roar 1 was pretty good
>>12226446Halo 1 and 2 play good on my machine.
>>12234992>>12234972gamecube isnt the best because of link, its because the gated analog stick is perfect for sc2 inputs.>b-but its a fighter so you have to use the dpadnot every fighting game is SF
>>12235087>arguably more popular franchiseis it really that arguable?
>>12235323anal log sticks are shit for fighters, arcade sticks aren't anal log.
>>12226776Nice! Now I can use the filter all the time without the performance hit!
>>12235345KEK
>>12235324people argue everything so i don't bother using definitive terms when it comes to popularity
>>12226446Do you use the simplified harddisk image or the full menu experience?
>>12230393what does generic teen slop even mean
>>12236016it means his mom only allowed him to play kiddie games so he had to cope by telling himself he wasnt interested in these kinds of games growing up
