Some TG16/PCE games went hard, & looked like Neo Geo games. (Legend of Xanadu?) Yet many, especially early on, looked like NES ports (Shockman 1). What a breadth. Then again, many Neo Geo games didn't make much use of its capabilities either (lookin' at you Blue's Journey)

I like the PCE version of R-Type.
The visuals take a big hit and there's annoying vertical screen scrolling, but the music sounds so much better than the arcade version, and a fun little boss was added at the end of stage 6.

Very good judging by the ones I've played.
I don't think the PCE version of Tatsujin has much to offer compared to the original, so I would replace it with R-Type.
I would also get rid of Magical Chase and add Cotton and Alien Crush.

Neo Nectaris > Famicom Wars entire series. Awesome game.

Devil's Crush is just a superior Alien Crush. And get rid of Magical Chase??

I'd encourage you to add some RPGs. That's what the system is primarily remembered for in Japan, after all. The Tengai Makyou series, as well as Falcom and Telenet's output would be good places to start. Not a lot has been translated, but it's worth making an effort to play what you can. Also, you're missing some obvious classics in the West, like Rondo, Legendary Axe, Alien Crush, Devil Crash, Star Parodier, all of the PC Genjin games, Cotton, Galaga '88, and one of the stronger ports of the first Puyo Puyo. If you can read Japanese, the PCE has the best version of Snatcher and the original release of Tokimeki Memorial.

>Devil's Crush is just a superior Alien Crush
I agree, but Devil Crash is way better on MD. Alien on the other hand is unique to the PCE.
>And get rid of Magical Chase??
It looks and sounds beautiful but unfortunately it feels sloppy to play. The life bar ruins it.

You probably also don't like Air Zonk 2 or Coryoon... >:I

>Get rid of Magical Chase
Heresy!
