Why was Super Mario Bros panned in Europe?
Nintendo was not a publisher in Europe at the time so they hadn't paid reviewers yet
>>12233213do NOT research this
>>12233210because it was a simple Hüpf und Kletterspiel game
>>12233210If that's 57 what did they consider 80/90
>>12233210what the fuck? OP I don't read mien kamph I don't know what they're saying.
>>12233210>Super Mario Bros, a very simple action game, stands out from the crowd thanks to three elements: its simplicity, the richness of the world in which it is explored, and the quality of its production.thats not so bad
>>12233242Elite Plus got a 94
>Super Mario Bros. is a really simple platformer that's somehow interesting thanks to its many different characters. As simple as the gameplay is, the game can be incredibly fun. Perhaps precisely because it's so uncomplicated. Anyone who likes these kinds of games can buy it without hesitation. Lots of fun is guaranteed!sounds good to me wheres the "panning"?
>>12233210I didn't know nazis got Mario two years after everyone else
>>12233259>>12233270it's damning with faint praise

It was no Great Giana Sisters. Remember that GGS came out before SMB in Europe.

>>12233210Because it's shit.

>>12233270How could SMB's gameplay be considered 'simple' in 1985?
>>12233883We had actual games in Europe at the time
>>12233883The French already played and made tons of RPGs on Atari ST and Amstrad CPC.
>>12233883*1987
>>12233883>>12233916Also nintendo literally made games for kids. PC-88 games were a lot more complex.
>>12233306>They're not reviewing the game as if it were a vision of Christ so they're clearly panning itEat a bullet, you fucking retard.

>>12234002Wrong.
>>12234034American kids didn't have enough brain cells to play computer games.
>>12234018And yet bingtendo fans are the most autistic in the gaming industry.
>>12234046I'm right fuck you
>>12233210Because the PAL market was still being dominated by old microcomputers, and bongtards/bongtard-adjacents were so used to getting pirated speccy/dorry games for a few pence behind the tackle shop that, when the NES arrived and the software prices were shown, every lime, rick, and hortense swore off of the brand for good. The Mega Drive avoided this issue by having footy and being several pounds lighter than the Noncetendo stuff, hence Sega's reign over Europe.
>>12233265Lol that's pretty german
>>12234048Computer adoption rates were consistently 2x in the US vs what they were in Europe up until the 2000s.

>>12233210They were too busy with zniggy.
>>12233210They didn’t getted the Eurosnoy mind virus yet
>>12233210Because it released 2 years later in Europe than anywhere else in the world, so the critics were comparing it to games that were 2 years newer. They're not wrong for doing that, either. The point of reviews is to help people decide which new releases are worth buying, and when a 1985 game is a new release in 1987 alongside other actual 1987 releases it will look a lot less worthwhile.
>>12233210are amerimutts actually entertained by holding right and pressing jump?
>>1223321075 used to be a good score before retards took over everything and now 7/10 means 'shit' instead of 'really good but wanting'.

>SPRINGENMANN MARIO HÜPFEN UND KLETTERN JA VIELE ARTEN VON FIGUREN UND VIEL SPAẞ HOLERÖ
>>12233883Because it released 2 years later (1987) in Europe. Many more complex games existed by then, especially for home computers which were far more popular in Europe at the time.
>>12235658
>>12235658>>12235661It's refreshing to see a review treat SMB just like any other game. Like I said, Nintendo had no status in 1987 in Europe.
And here's the other review from OP. The low score is because it ranked only 4 in Gameplay due to how simple and arcade like it was, but the text remarks that's one of its strengths since it's instantly easy to understand and gets addicting fast.
>>12235702it's because it's shit
