Can you get through it without using a guide?
>>12233491Yea? It's not La Mulana. It's pretty straightforward and has the easiest "puzzles" of the classic trilogy.
yes if u not brain addled drug user
>>12233491I love RE2 but it's basically the easiest game in the series
>>12233491Yeah, you can't?
>>12233491I got your "guide" right here, pal.
>>12233491>be me>be 14>birthday in early January>mom offers to let me go to the mall for my bday and go shopoing>well I'm practically an adult so why not>go to Electronics boutique >they have a used copy of the recently released RE3>Holy.dot.shit.exe>34.99$ for a 40$ game>talk about savings>buy RE3>buy RE3 guide>super fucking stoked>had played RE1 at a friend's house for months afterschool >played RE2 over and over again for months the previous year>buckle up this is gonna be a long ride>power up my Playstation>hype levels maxBeat the game in an afternoon, had zero fun since nothing scared me since I new what the fuck was going to happen in advance and never used guides again
>>12233540lol no? There's so many more zombies than 1 and they don't react to shit. Nothing in RE1 comes close to 2's difficulty.
>>12233686While enemies are tougher and more numerous in RE2, you've got more space to evade them with ease. Not to mention RE2 gives you plenty of ammo anyway.
>>12233686Zombies aren't difficult in any game if you have enough ammo. RE1's puzzle and inventory management are much more difficult on a blind playthrough than 2
>>12233664even mercenaries mode?
>>12233728I didn't even play mercenaries mode till years later when I bought re3 from.the ps store for my vita
>>12233491>Can you get through it without using a guide?Honestly, there is very little to the game that requires any sort of guide. The few puzzles it has are almost brain dead in comparison to the first Resident Evil game. The gameplay is far more streamlined.
>>12233813They tried to fix this with 3 and the illusion of choice, but nothing compares to the first blind run of RE
>>12233491Yes as long as I have a GameShark for infinite ammo and infinite health.
>>12233836I used to think that shit was the coolest but I also never owned a game genie or gameshark, I just would read about them in egm
>>12233664>get a new game>immediately get the guidewhat even the fuck was happening in your retarded head?
>>12233686>Nothing in RE1 comes close to 2's difficulty.Yawn alone just shit all over everything that RE2 has to offer in terms of difficulty.Let's not even talk about the RE1 Hunters, I have a feeling you're not ready for this conversation.
>>12233882Game guides were cool for the character and enemy explanations, my failure was using it to play the game
>>12233885Anon, that other anon never made it out of the mansion let alone back into it after the guardhouse
>>12233893kek
>>12233686Yeah that's the thing I don't like about RE1, it's the least challenging of all the OG RE games.
>>12233491Yes, how about this one?
>>12234459it's time to overclock my retard gauge
>>12234463I got stuck in this puzzle just because I thought the blood was part of the puzzle
>>12234463>translations for the clue for this in my language was "birds without voices">I was super confused because birds don't have voices either way, they have no vocal chordsThat's the problem when you have 140+ IQ
>>12233612Damn, that's some great value.
I wrote a guide on how to beat Hunk at the age of 12So can I beat it without a guide? Dude, I wrote the damn guide.
>>12234470That's what it said in English, "birds without voices". Probably different in Japanese. Sometimes I pop into twitch too see who's playing SH1 and more often than not they get hard stuck in the puzzle and 9 times out of 10 they think the silent keys are to be avoided.
what the fuck would you need a guide for?
>>12233491I did in 1998 or 99.
>>12233491For me,it was the first Dino Crisis. I got filtered hard by several of the puzzles in that game and had to look up solutions
>>12234606IMO it should have said "birds who don't sing"
>>12234464Same. I overcomplicated it like a big retard and got stuck.
>>12233491I beat it as a kid and could barely read english at the time
>>12233491Nah, I had to use a guide for something on my first playthrough. I'm absolutely garbage at remembering map layouts and shit too, so even though I've beaten RE1 like 7 times, I would need a video guide to follow 1:1 if I wanted beat it in under 3 hours lol
>>12233612I had one for MGS. I loved the weapons section with real life pics for the weapons.
>>12234470>That's the problem when you have 140+ IQYeah, I guess 140+ IQ people are either dumb or rigid, so they're thinking "scientifically" when reading the poetry. Like the rest of that tale makes sense if you take It literally. And I'm not even talking about the whole "bird" to "piano" translation you have to make.
>>12234459I had to use a guide because I got a bad ending on my first playthrough
>>12233491Yup, notably easier than RE1 and RE3
>>12235794>I overcomplicated itThat's one of my problems with a lot of the "harder" Silent Hill riddles, adding equations that weren't supposed to be there because of extra wording or whatever
>>12233491i love these games so much its hard to play them today because I played them to hell and back in the 90s and early 2000s they hold no surprises other than trips down memory lane. Maybe a year from now or so I'll play them all one last time before putting a hiatus for another few years.
>>12234925puzzles in survival horror never really bothered me, it was the one off items that you couldn't find the location to use them or just forgetting a room that you already entered once and never went back too because it was locked or you thought nothing was in it.
>>12234925The only one I had to look up was the one where you had to call a scientist's pager to find out which body's fingerprints you had to use to recode a security card & I immediately regretted it since the solution makes so much sense. Though I hadn't noticed you could dial the phone so I probably would have just spent the next hour flailing around getting nothing accomplished desu
>>12233491That's what Gamefaqs is for.>>12234459This game is "easier" than RE due to being far more generous with health and ammo and lack of inventory capacity, but some of those puzzles were bullshit like >>12234463
>>12234606I made a big post forever ago about that puzzle in Japanese here:https://desuarchive.org/vr/thread/10869957/#10874292But no, it's still just "Birds without voices".
>>12234463You think that's bad?
>>12233491??? a guide for what? this is the simplest one. thats like needing a tutorial to read a book.
>>12240757I hope you're not joking. I hope you're not telling me that you didn't know what a clover or dandelion looked like
>>12240783>I hope you're not jokingyouknowwhatimean
There's enough ammo to instinctually kill everything in your path (typical noob response), so yes. The sewer gator might take a few attempts before figuring out it's actually just a puzzle.
>>12234603If you read a guide, you didn't beat the game.If you wrote a guide, you REALLY didn't beat the game.
>>12233538I was an active crack user during the time I first cleared the A and B scenarios and I didn't use a guide, so I want you to take that back.
Bump
I recently played it blind and it was pretty easy OP.
